I'm very happy with my 4" 629-4, and it's very accurate!
I am a 44 freak. Got my first one (a Ruger SBH 3 screw) when I was sixteen. I am 58 now. Been many come and go. This is my current collection. Just sold a couple. I feel the need to replace them. It is a sickness.

I carry a 5" full-underlug 629 every day, from pajamas-off until pajamas-on, in a homemade under-the-shirt cloth vertical shoulder holster rig. I use a VERY relaxed grip, with relaxed and flexed elbows. That (combined with the X500 grips) makes it a very pleasant gun to shoot, even with the full-spec 240gr Underwoods I exclusively use in it.

On March 10th I purchased a model 29-10 6.5in. Barely over two months later I purchased the 629 6 in. It's an affliction you can't get rid of. My reasoning was the 29 was just too pretty to take on my backpacking trips in the Frank Church wilderness. But.. I can tell you if you do pull a model 29 on a grizzly bear it'll stop charging and ask whether it's a pre-lock or not. After some chit chat about the lock and thanking God for the electoral college sure you'll get attacked but a bears gotta do what a bears gotta do amiright?
Now I'm following this thread to get some grip ideas.

If it were up to me I would be looking for a mint 629 3E or 4. If blued, I would be looking for a M29-5. The 3E and 4 start the endurance package I believe. I do not know if they are drilled and tapped for optics I know my 29-5 is. However that means nothing to me, because I am not fond of pistol optics. Just a personal choice
