Gin preferences

Sorry to cast some decent on this thread, but I refer to gin and tonic as "hair tonic and tonic". I have several bottles in my bar for guests, but to my palette, gin should be reserved to remove grease spots from the driveway!

Hendricks hands down. Best aromatics I have ever experienced in a gin. It ain't cheap but it is sure good!!!!!
Oh and as far as gin and tonic-splash a couple of drops of angostora bitters in it for a pink gin (a la Ruark)-gives it that little tongue twisting finish.

The wife and I like a good Gin and tonic with a twist of lime now and again.
We typically have Tanguery or Beefeaters on hand but just recently discovered Amsterdam Gin. I'm not big on drinking gin neat but this one is pretty good.

Not a gin drinker...only ever tried it once. No complaints. It just aint good whiskey, of which I like. But I have to ask...is there really a difference between shaken or stirred??? If so, what's supposed to be the difference??? Or, is that Hollywood B.S. {like a 3 inch silencer on a 357 mag revolver that goes "pfffssst"}

Last time we had a gin thread, I tried Hendricks because you raved about it. I'd try Aqua Velva aftershave before I'd buy it again.
I guess I'm not as refined as.......oh...wait.......strike that last.

Tried the Bombay Sapphire. The aromatics in it make me sneeze- really! Makes a good dog cologne, though.

Gordon's? Cuts cosmoline well on surplus guns.

Beefeater? Naaahhhhh......... a guy in a suit that red needs to bring me a better present.

Not much of a liquor drinker, but when I do, it's a salty dog (gin and grapefriit juice w/ salted rim). Usually Beefeaters.

At a "Navy Strength" of 114 proof, you can douse your powder with it and it will still ignite. Outstanding.

I only drink Gin when I can't get Vodka. I prefer Tanguery in either Vodka or Gin.

These days I rarely drink anything other than the occasional beer. But if I did have a bottle of Tanguery Vodka in the house it would not be safe. I would probably slowly go to work on making it disappear.

My Gins in the summer like some tonic water and a twist of lime in a tall glass.

In the winter they like either a Jumbo Olive or two Large onions,
shaken but not bruised and a little "Dirty".

Beef, Bomb and Tang will work for me but I will use that other one in the summer time, if it is all that is around.

Vodka is for "Mary's and mixed drinks..........

Well....it ain't for everybody I know you're a sour mash man and that's good with me. I'm one of those rare people that place bourbon on my "I'll drink it if I have to" list and therefore am not allowed into the polite crowd at the Derby

I earlier mentioned my favorite gin drink as mixed with tonic water and just enough grenadine to make it pinkish. And of course ice. I first tried that drink at the bar of the Heliopolis Hilton in Cairo back around 1981. They had a name for it, but I don't remember what it was, something British. I tried it, and loved it, it really makes a delicious drink, and cuts any harshness of the gin. No limes or olives for me.

I do drink at least one gin and tonic with a lime slice and a few drop of Real Lime juice added every day so to say I like gin is an understatement.

For a martini, two shots of Tanqueray or Beefeater with a drop of vermouth and three blue cheese stuffed olives is perfect. I like them extra dry. They say if you blew up a liter of vermouth with an atomic bomb there would be enough vermouth in the atmosphere for all time so you would just have to wave your martini around in the air to get the proper amount in it.

And don't even mention that abomination, the vodka martini.

I drink a lot of Hendricks, and I drink it neat (unless I have a lemon cucumber around, in which case I'll throw in a round).

That picture makes my heart go pitter-patter. Been on a rye kick for most of the year. Just cracked open a new bottle of Hendricks two nights ago. So sorry I have ignored you old friend Hendricks.
