Glaser & Mag Safe Ammo

I was given a box Glaser and Mag Safe ammo in 38spcl, 357 mag and 44 spcl sizes. I am not familiar with these fragmenting rounds. When I checked the mfg web sites, they are filled with statements like:
"the world's most effective handgun ammo"
"stopping power is maximized by the complete dispersal of the bullet energy into the intended target with immediate shock and trauma"

Has anyone used these in their own testing or shooting of targets other than paper? How did they perform ?

I did find some responses re Glasers in a 45 LC posting. Seemed to be mostly negative or undecided based on limited range work.

Wouldn't waste my $$ on them. Stick with what's tried and works!

I received the same impression from the posting refering to LC Colt ammo. Thanks for the responses.

I haven't shot any Glaser in years. Accuracy was the pits beyond ten yards. Blast was off the Richter scale.

I guess when you shoot at them with Glaser, if you don't hit them, they'll have a heart attack from the sonic boom in their face.

Probably the reason a shop has the stuff still available, is due to it being basically useless?

IIRC, the Glaser was introduced in the late 70's early 80's for use by "Sky Marshals" to minimize the prospect of a stray round unintentionally ventilating a plane fuselage at 30,000 feet. I also seem to remember the first caliber offered was .44 special, but I could be wrong.

They might work in a warm climate, but they will not penetrate a winter coat.

I think I saw something about the Sky Marshals on one of the pages I looked at. Yesterday afternoon I stopped in an out the way gun shop and he had DPX in 357 and 38 Spcl. I bought some of these. Very pricey, but I'm sure they will be effective if required.

DPX is good ammo and an excellent choice in each of those calibers.

I bet they will. I've never found heavy clothing to limit penetration of much of anything in my tests.

pretty much useless if your opponent is behind a barrcade of some sort, such as dry wall, automobile glass, wooden doors, etc. Keep your gimmicks, I'll stake my bacon on expanding SD bullets.
