I'm considering getting a Glock 26 for pocket carry, but I'm concerned about how well it carries and draws from the pocket. The G26 is almost the same length as the J-frame, but of course it is shaped differently. Anyone have any experience carrying a G26 or G27 in their front pants pocket? How does it compare to carrying a M442/642 in the pocket?

The Glocks are way bigger than a J-frame. I've had a 33 and a 26, and I never could carry either of them in the (jeans or dress slacks - cargo is another story entirely) pocket comfortably. I carry my CZ RAMI in the pocket sometimes, and that's about as big as I can go.

I used to pocket carry a G27. Worked fine in 5.11s and various styles of khakis for me. Did not work well in jeans. Some dress pants will work, some won't.

I used a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster.

Weight is noticably heavier than an alloy J frame.

These are somewhat suspectible to limp wristing, apparently anyway, as others have complained about it, though I never had a problem.

I went back to light J frames for pocket carry though I did like my Glock 27.

I did it for a while and while it is much heavier than a j-frame, everything is a trade off. I just picked up a Glock 26 and I am about to start pocket carrying it again. The holster is the key and it is easier in cargo khaki's than most any other pants.

I routinely carry J,L and N frame modified guns in my pocket but have never been able to with my Glock 27. It does not draw well from most pockets and without a pocket holster I am am not comfortable with the safe action trigger.

heck I sometimes carry my HK UPSc 45 in my pocket in the holster made for it.....hey its big but it fits and really isnt noticable

I have a Kramer leather pocket holster for the mini-glocks, and have carried both a 26 and its successor, a 33, for years. I bet it won't work in jeans; I have had no trouble with cargo and dress pants.

I don't think I would pocket carry the Glock unless it had the New York trigger. I like the cushioning of the fabric/neoprene pocket holsters best and I would want some thick pants with very big and deep pockets. Cargo pockets seem too slow on the draw and let the gun flop around but they are comfortable and concealable.

My Glock 27 felt like a brick in my pocket--it wasn't the weight that bothered me, it was the size & shape.

I tried pocket carrying a Glock 26...didn't work for me. I sold the Glock 26 and replaced it with a Kel-Tec P11.

The Kel Tec is not the same quality as the Glock, but its much smaller/lighter and pocket carries just fine. With the optional 12 round magazine, it becomes a "P13"...12 + 1 in the pipe of 9mm +P's in a small package.

I totally agree. I could not comfortably pocket carry my G26. The G26 felt like I was carrying a brick in my pocket. I had problems with both the weight and outline. I've been pocket carrying a 642 for years with no problems.

I have pocket carried both and have gone exclusively to the J-Frame. The revolver is a bit thicker, but the shape is different. I can't really explain objectively the difference, but the round curves of the revolver seem to "blend" better with the drape of the pocket than the square lines of a semi-auto. Weight is not my major factor as I sometimes pocket carry a 640 stainless and it is as heavy, if not heavier, than most pocket sized semi-autos.

+1 to the "doesn't work for me in jeans" category, and that is the only kind of pants i've tried the G26 in.

My M&P 340 on the other hand fits and blends perfectly into my dickies work jeans pocket.

I carry one in a pocket holster sometimes in my front or back jeans pocket, but in the front pocket, it's not really comfortable. In cargo pants, it's a different story. So, usually when I'm wearing jeans, I keep the Glock in my driver's side door pocket and put a North American .22 mag in my front jeans pocket.

Love my Glocks, but not for daily pocket carry...

IMHO, a better choice for pocket carry over the Glock 26 is the Kahr PM9. Shorter in length (5.375" vs. 6.29") and height (4" vs. 4.17") as well as narrower in the important measurement for pocket carry: width (.875" vs. 1.18"), and it weighs less (16oz. vs. 19.75oz. empty) too. It might "only" take 6+1 vs. the 10+1 of the Glock 26, but either beats the hell out of a 5 shot round gun. A spare 6/7 round magazine is faster to reload and easier to carry than a 5 round speedloader as well as much more secure than a Speedstrip. You do ALWAYS carry a reload don't you?

The Kahr PM9 works, is easy to shoot well, and is sufficiently accurate and powerful for the task at hand...

Sights are great too, especially if you add a set of Big Dot trits

Don't see any tactical advantage to toting any of my little Js anymore

That doesn't mean I don't drop a 36/38/40/49/60 or 640 in a pocket...on occasion

yup, besides my 340PD, my PM9 is my other pocket gun(really dont stick a USPc in my pocket often), a bit heavier than an Airweight but not much and carries nicely

I currently carry three guns: the 442-2, K-T PF9 and a K-T P3AT. When I go out, I try to carry spare mags for the two semi-autos. If I have room in a front pocket or taking a bag of some sort, I throw in my two Safariland Comp-1 speedloaders for the 442-2. But the speedloaders are bulky and not easy to carry, so I seldom carry them anymore since I got the two K-T's. I'm thinking of replacing the 442-2 with the G26, which will give me better firepower, as well as the same caliber as the PF9. I have some G17 mags already, so I'm ready with reloads for a G26.

I've had the opportunity to test fire a PM9, and when I can afford it, I think I will replace the K-T PF-9 with either the Kahr or a P11, I haven't decided for sure which yet. I think the Kahr is better quality, but the P11 has better mag capacity.

That's kind of my situation too.

Hopefully, someday I will have enough guns to be like that!

Yea, they've become more of an investment lately...

My "accumulation", can't quite call it a collection, has probably performed better than my 401K
