Howdy all, been a while since I've posted on here.

About 2 or 3 weeks ago, I was doing some research regarding the wife's Glock 43. It is an early serial numbered model with a stiff trigger pull. Found out that subsequent models are shipped with "minus" connectors, resulting in a lighter and smoother trigger pull.

I called Glock in Georgia and was directed to the correct department after 2 transfers. The gentleman I spoke with said that in order for me to get the minus connector, I would have to either
A) send the gun to the factory for them to install it OR
B) be a Glock certified armorer or know a GCA and the piece can be sent to that person for installation.

What a load! Why would I send my wife's carry piece out to Glock? What will she be armed with? (She despises revolvers, so my j frame is out of the question).

I've called Smith and Wesson and Ruger regarding parts, services or questions without any such thing! Smith has always had great service and sends small parts to you for free 95% of the time! My Ruger SR1911 had a scratch on the frame and they refinished it for free and sent it back to me in a week's time (I do not carry a 1911, so no big deal).

End of the day, I guess I could purchase the part for $10 or so, but why? I spent $450 on the thing when it came out 4 or 5 years ago!

Ended up disassembling the gun and polishing the components with mothers mag and aluminum polish using only elbow grease and a microfiber cloth. Trigger pull was noticeably smoother and a tad lighter, but still stout.

At the end of the day, with Glock having such a name and reputation, their customer service should mirror their product. I am by no means a "Glock Hater" or think that the Glock brand is terrible. I carry a G19 ever day since I can remember. However, I think a 2.0 compact in 9mm is coming up in the near future for myself...

Thanks for the read and for the venting, and hope yunz have a great and safe week

Providing parts for their guns to the general public is a liability issue for them.

This sums it up. Glock, Inc. is perfectly willing to supply the upgraded part at no cost; but you and your competency level are unknown to the corporation. Why should Glock, Inc. risk dealing with you?

I live about 50 miles from Glock, Inc. I have always been treated very graciously by everyone there, from the security at the gate to the service techs inside the service center.

No offense sir, but Glock isn't responsible for keeping your gun locker filled! I've had trouble with only one Glock (G42) over the years and they took it back, replaced a bunch of parts and shipped it back to me. I sold my Glock 43 to get a 43X - otherwise there wasn't a thing wrong with it. I'm sure there are many here who would like to bash Glock, and Glocks, but I'm not one of them. You could always break out your plastic and get a nice 442/638/642 for her while the Glock is away. Then you could spend some together time with her at the range; or pick up a Kahr .380 or 9mil for her.

I've dealt with Glock customer service a few times and they've always exceeded my expectations in most cases. And that's saying a lot considering how particular I am. S&W CS I find satisfactory as well. Ruger and Springfield-Armory not so much.

Glock has great customer service. I have dealt with them many times. If you attend a local range with a gunsmith, ask if they are a GLOCK armorer, they could get it for you I would imagine. You could probably also attend a GSSF match, there are multiple GLOCK armorers, and usually factory folks around to talk with. They may have the necessary parts to swap out for you also. You will also get a opportunity to have good time blasting your carry piece in a competition type of event.

If I call up literally any other firearms maker on the planet, why should I expect them to provide me a new part simply because I don't like the one that's in the gun.

It's literally a $7 part. Buy it, put it in. If you want a free one, you have to get it to Georgia. Cry me a river.

Seems fair. That's generally what should be expected for anything beyond a field strip.

Liability - Glock does not know that you know how to install parts if you have not attended a factory sponsored school.
Bingo! Glock is not looking to open themselves to a potential liability issue and given our litigious society, I cannot blame them one bit.

Having attended the Glock armorer school on multiple occasions, one thing is certain. Glock will not send a private citizen a connector. Their connector, their choice . . .

I agree with the others who wrote that it is prerogative to require the pistol to be sent in. This would guarantee that the part is installed correctly. If she likes everything else about the G43, there are several venues that sell the connector and videos online that could walk you through the process.

Spending a few bucks for a connector is a LOT less expensive than trading it for a Shield (an option you wrote in the M&P Sub-Forum).
While both are Fine pistols, both are close enough in function that I would not trade either, for the other.

I can only imagine how many times Glock gets sued a year WITHOUT sending parts to anyone who asks for them. The price we pay for living in a litigious society where lawyers outnumber doctors.

OP I don't understand what you expect Glock to do for you. Did you expect them to send a technician to your house to install the new part on site? Like calling a plumber?

As others have suggested you and your wife should consider investing in some additional firearms for when these type things happen in the future. Good luck with your Glock, sounds like it should be an easy fix.

Hi all,

thanks for the multitude of responses! Didn't think the post would be so popular (as far as my posts go).

I didn't even think about the legal standpoint from Glock. Seems silly, but it's true. Again, sad that it has to be that way but that's the way it is.

After the Shield 2.0 is purchased, the 43 will be sent to Glock for the part swap - as long as they provide the shipping like S&W and Ruger. Otherwise, I will purchase the OEM Part. The 43 will be a good carry piece in place of the Shield should that need to go in for something, or if I'm feeling too lazy to carry my G19/G26 or 66-5 snubbie.

Your wife hates revolvers and loves Glocks?
What's wrong with her? Does she have a problem with good trigger pulls?

Yes, you are right Jaymo. She does hate good trigger pulls and that's why she loves Glock. It's the worst possible thing to carry and worst trigger ever created; it's just so awful that she can never go to any other firearm because it has tainted her shooting abilities.

In case anybody didn't realize that that answer was sarcastic, the real answer is that she is petite (118 lbs) and doesn't have the strength to pull a 642 trigger without shaking and getting nervous. Stout recoil to the hand also doesn't help reinforce a likeable firearm.

When the trigger pull is 13x -or more- heavier than the firearm itself, you are a female, guns aren't your most favorite thing in the world and you only really shoot the guns that you carry, it's not too hard to see why it is not favored.

The weight, firepower, capacity and slimness of modern single stacks is more appealing to many people. Upgrading to a steel J frame or K frame would be too heavy for her and not practical/conducive to normal female dress style. Maybe for some wives, but not mine.

Just my .02

If you're opposed to sending it in, get an aftermarket connector and do it yourself. Don't stress and hit the easy button.

Try to get Taurus to fix something ! You will never be unhappy with Glock, or anyone elses customer service , ever again.

I always have wondered if there are Smith & Wesson threads on the Glock forum and if they trash all things S&W. Heck they may even make fun of Dirty Harry.
Yes, but are they brave (or stupid) enough to make fun of Chuck Norris? :D

A gun isn't like software, where we expect free "patches" when the factory finds a way to improve it.

Ruger seems to have no problem with selling or giving parts to individuals. I've received several replacement parts from them for free. lf any company seems excessively lawyered up, it's Ruger, yet they still supply internal parts.
