Glock question - USA or Austria?

I get a hoot out of folks who say X made in XX is better then a X made in YY. as a Ex-Metrology Tech working at NOS Indian Head MD I can assure you if the item is made to Specs it just is not a issue. I owned several "Made in USA" Cars in the 1980's 90's that were built with Out of Spec parts from Mexico and America. QA...the heart of a well built thing.

I think Sig Folks might have something to say... West German vs German vs USA vs Switzerland.

My duty weapon, a G17 we transitioned to almost 3 years ago, is marked Austria on both the slide and frame.

FAR superior to the "full size" Made in USA M&P 45 we traded in.

No, we didn't. Many of our neighboring agencies didn't either.

We did consider the 2.0 model and tested it against the G17. As is my understanding, the 17 was approved with no dissention amongst the testers.

I have been told by many of our firearms instructors that scores have increased since we switched.

Now I'm not sure if that means by 1 point or by 12 or more points.

I have owned Glocks for years, so I was quite pleased with the transition.

My agency went from Glocks to the full size M&P 45 and then back to Glocks. I remember there was finish durability issues with the M&P and some other issues but I never carried one so I don't remember but they did rust. I was grandfathered so I still carried my wheel gun at the time. All my Glocks are Austrian but not by intent.
