The 40FS has been staying home lately as I've just really grown to like the balance of these platforms in my hands. I've gone back and watched a lot of vids on technique, working dry fire practice, and dealing with my older eyes. Spent a bunch of time working on my cross eye dominant issue, and getting a clear proper sight picture. This has produced noticeable results.

Last weeks target, and groupings show a definite right of center tendency. There was a lot of different holds and aim points, strong hand supported, strong hand, weak hand unsupported.

This week, I changed my sight picture, to use my dominant right eye, shooting left handed. Turning my head about 30degrees left help to clear up my vision and aquire a good sight picture.

First 2 Shield mags at 8yrds

5 Mags of Shield
The loose shots are single handed, strong and weak. Right side low shot is right hand weak, upper left is left strong hand. This tended to hold true for single hand shooting on both platforms. Something to work on for sure.

Final for both pistols, about 200 rounds downrange this week. The upper 8 groups are left hand single at about 4yrds, and the upper 7 is right hand.

Most of the wide stuff is also single hand at 8yrds. There is also some 20yrd stuff in there.

At 8yrds with dominant eye sight picture I'm hitting far better in center mass.

Both are very nice shooting platforms that will shoot as good as you can run them. I like each and don't have a clear favorite at this time. I think the trigger in the compact is just a little better, but it's very close. The reset on the shield is a little better, but it's very close as well.

I will say that I'm liking the compact frame sizes more than my full size.

More range next week.

Today was an awesome range session! Was sitting on the couch with Hickock 45 playing on youtube, as I loaded mags and put my range bag together, When my Daughter, and soon to be Daughter in law showed up. Daughter in law has been wanting to go for a range session, and when she saw I was planning to go, she was going with me.

Unloaded a mag, and put everything else in a separate room except for 3cold pistols and explained rules of what we were going to do, to have a safety class, and familiarization class before the range. Included some dry fire practice as well. My Daughter didn't want to shoot but came and watched. We hit the indoor range cause Houston is a wee bit warm this time of year.

Did some more dry fire work on the lane and a bit more safety stuff, and proceeded to start making noise. Brought all three pistols, Shield, compact, and FS40. Started with the Shield on slow single shots.
Worked her through all three, and she did very good, and really liked the 40. She had a big grin, "I really like the power of this!"

A good time was had, and it's great to get to share, and introduce a new person to the sport. It was a big step to get this Daughter to even come to the range, and she did participate in the safety stuff at the house. We might actually get her on the line soon.

My rounds today were more consistent and a bit tighter with the Shield. I wasn't really concerned about max performance from myself, as making sure The Daughter in law had a good experience.

Glad I brought the FS frame. I ran a couple mags at approx 10 yards. It really shows that to shoot the shield well, you need to focus if you want to shoot it tight. The fullsize is much easier to shoot well, but that's a given, even in 40. A little more work with the Shield, and I'm sure I'll be as consistent as I want to be with it.

I need to put hi vis front sights on all my stuff. My eyes aren't getting younger.

Great shooting I'll be glad when it cools oof some because my local indoor gun range doesn't have air ran into the range lol So whats the purpose of a indoor range I just set up a range in my back yard.

Todays distance was about 11 or 12 yards

Got the new 40C out to the range today for the first time, and I really like the balance of the platform. It felt better to me than my FS. The trigger is new so will need some breaking in. I didn't run a separate target for it, I just shot it after shield.

I didn't notice when looking over the pistol, but the test case for the 40C was from Dec of 2013. Trigger feels like my FS did when new. The 9C, and Shield have better triggers out of the box as compared to the 40C, it just needs time.

End of session for both pistols.

Ran 10 8rnd mags through the shield today, at a little further distance. Single hand strong tended to hit left and center, while weak right hand was definitely right of center. Had a few dropped shots on quick follow up with single hand.

You can't improve what you don't know your weak at.
