Seems a couple of weeks back I did a minor injury to my chest, it was something stupid and really should not have amounted to anything.
Anyway the pain in my chest seemed to be well maybe I bruised my ribs or sternum? What do you do with bruised ribs especially when your missing 3?
After about 3 days with no let up in the pain department I went to a local hospital emergency care for some quick x-rays. Well I'm kinda torqued about this and I'm having chest pain, my blood pressure is showing high! Now they think I'm having a heart attack,,, I have a heart murmur as well? Anyway they argue the point and ship me via ambulance to the main hospital.
Now so far everyone is worried about my heart and not addressing my original problem, which they think is because of the heart!
Eventually they get around to getting me x-rayed and I got a bonus cat scan!
Still worried about my heart the ER Doc thinks I should stay and pleads with me to stay the night, my BP is still not down! Well duh....you got me cranked about something that isn't happening and my chest still hurts! What are you going to do about that? I got two bonus Tylenol for my pain...
Well the x-rays showed nothing but to my surprise the bonus cat scan has turned up a spot on my one lung! That's right folks,,, my one lung, only have one since I went through lung cancer treatment 6 years ago!
Well fast forward about 3 weeks and a visit to my Oncologist and we find that I have a cancerous growth on my lymph node in my right and only good lung! It was biopsied and proven. Now they're deciding my treatment routine.
So here we are 6 years later and the cancer is back!

2020 sure is turning out to be a ******year!

I am saddened to hear this and will pray hard for your doctors and the best possible outcome for you.

There are many of us here that have been ravaged by Stage IV cancer and understand what an emotional blow this must be to you for this squatter to try to take up residency again.

P!ease keep us in the loop.

I know that feeling!
Had a stroke 6 months ago,I can walk, trot, but I can't run. My fine motor skills in that hand are mostly back and I started riding a bike a month ago. I can't swing my leg over, but I can climb up on the garden wall to get on and off. Had a little problem a few weeks ago and went to the er. They decided on a scan of my chest. My complaint wasn't a big problem, but I've never had so many people looking at me with a ***!? expression and asking so many questions!
There's a blocked a subclavian artery,a murmur and the biggie is a glitch in my coronary arteries. There should be two of em. There's one and the other side of the heart is fed by a branch from it. It appears to have a restriction too. All those years of construction, skiing, mountain biking, etc, etc and smoking on top of it all [emoji33][emoji15][emoji1787]

My wife's lung cancer was discovered after she went to the ER for something completely unrelated. While unnecessary for the reason she went to the ER, the doctor ordered a chest X-Ray and found the spot. She lost half of one lung but lived.

Guys, it looks like it is time to get the shield and sword out again and prepare for war. You have fought this enemy before and beaten it and you can do it again. I'm not saying it will be easy. May God prepare you spiritually, emotionally, psychologically and physically for this fight. May He do the same for your loved ones and medical providers.

Thanks for the thoughts everyone I do appreciate.
At this time we don't know exactly what for cancer this is and without the pet scan we don't know if it has spread.
Yes this stupid little accident or chest incident did get me in for an early detection.
When I had the major bout I really came through with no issues except for losing the lung but then there was an infection issue after that which was no treat.
Hopefully I will beat it again....

As soon as you wrote about your rib injury, I flashbacked. My cousin on Staten Island had the same discovery from a rib injury.
She and I now have the same pulmonary doctor at Sloan Kettering.
It's a tough row to hoe, and your in my prayers. If you want an oncology recommendation for Drs. In the NYC area, let me know.

Well that sucks. Sorry to hear that. :(

This was back in July 2014 when they did a ct-guided needle
biopsy of an advanced stage 4 metastatic melanoma tumor in
my left lung.
You can see the needle sticking into the tumor.
It eventually grew to the size of a ping pong ball.

Cancer is no fun.

I go in this Thursday for a followup blood work, brain MRI and ct-scans
of my neck, chest, abdomen and pelvis. All the places that I'v had cancer.
And so they can see how the tumor on my ear is doing.

I don't hate cancer for what its done to me.
I hate cancer for what I've seen it do to others.

Godspeed.

rubiranch, my first round was in my left lung, 3 months time I had a tumor in the upper quadrant the size of a goose egg. Dr. surgically removed it along with the whole lung. Thought I would only lose half but not to be. This also destroyed my left vocal chord.
What concerns me now is that I went through chemo and radiation treatments with absolutely no problems, I'm hoping I can do that again.
So I've been 6 years free so it goes,,,we start over again

I wish you well on your follow up

Pulling for you, loknload. Tough drawing the low card on this hand, but at least you got in early for the diagnosis. You've got what it takes to go toe-to-toe with this stuff. You and your team, that is. Keep us posted.

I'm sorry to hear that. I'll pray for your recovery and well being. I think you've already paid the piper once, that's enough.
In His name
