A while back I was fortunate enough to get in touch with scout II (Dave) after finding he'd sold a beautiful pre-28 Highway Patrolman to another member. I contacted scout II and enquired if he had any others available. I was particularly looking to scratch an itch for a birth year Highway Patrolman. Dave was good enough to send me multiple pictures of three HPs from 1954 that he was thinking of selling. His asking price was more than reasonable and he was willing to hold a gun for me until the funds were available.
Roy confirmed the HP was shipped during August of 1954, and considering its age, its nearly pristine! There is very little wear on the finish, the numbered grips are in excellent condition and the gun's timing and lockup are spot on. A real throwback to when Smiths were literally handmade built and assembled. Thanks Dave!
Enjoy this classic…

Careful, there. I was "shipped" in August of 1954, and I'm nearly pristine, too. Except for the wear on my finish, and my lockworks creak and groan when my trigger gets pulled, my sights don't see as well, and my rifling is sorta worn, yeah, I'm pretty pristine.

Seriously, that HP is probably in better shape than I am. Congrats on getting a birth-year gun, she's a beaut. That would be a birth-month and birth-year gun for me.

Another August '54 model here. I'm in about the same shape as you. :(
