Dumb question I imagine, but does anyone else pull their hair out over the postal service? No wonder they are going broke. They used to be pretty reliable, but not any more. I have a handguard for my M&P 10 that according to their tracking system has been sitting in San Fran for 5 days now!
WTH over?
I guess I should just consider myself lucky if it gets here sometime this year. I am writing them off my to do list just as I have the airlines.
Rant over

I wish I could somehow block all the junk mail they bring me...as a "millenial" I don't really get things in the mail. I can pay my bills online, and on occasion I enjoy a package, but really my inbox is crammed full of stuff daily. I'm no hippy, but it just seems like a waste of good trees.

i always use fedex when possible---I have the same issue with usps and sometimes ups--haven't had an issue yet with fedex

Thanks for the suggestions, I contacted eBay and they in turn contacted the vendor so I'll give it a couple of days and see what happens. If no luck, the vendor still owns that item and I see it as his problem to see that it gets where it's going.
It is funny how the junk mail ALWAYS makes it in a timely fashion, huh?

I agree but both of them are now subcontracting final delivery to the USPS now unless you state and pay otherwise. I make it a point to complain to them and vendors whenever that creates a problem hoping to discourage that new practice. Probably doesn't do diddly other than make me feel a little better.

No never any problems. Have been using the postal service since 97 and have yet to not receive a package on time or have one of my lost. 350+ million people in America. .....there are bound to be some mess ups.

The tracking numbers don't always work. Epically from e*** most do. I checked on one from three months ago and says first attempt to deliver unsuccessful waiting for 2nd attempt but it was delivered. It also still shows not delivered three months after delivery.

I never have a problem with any delivery services. After your stated approximant date for delivery contact the USPS with tracking number, they have always been helpful.

You need to also contact the USPS, with the tracking number, and your inquiry.

No doubt, seller thinks he shipped the item, it is buyer's problem.

Actually not. They own it until its delivered. Also EBay insures against this.

There have been far more with them in my experience at least. Finding out anything with them has proved far more difficult than any other shipper also.
I'm seeing several people here that have had good service from the PO. I will patiently wait for them to make a believer out of me.

Anyone seen the way mail carriers dress lately? What happened to the uniforms and grooming standards? Used to be letter carriers (mailmen!) had a bit of pride in their appearance. Not any more! They look like bums. I thought a few of the ones around here lately were fresh outta rehab or jail and robbing the place!

It's not the USPS's fault. They just deliver the mail they're given. The complaint belongs with the company that mails it not the post office.

Wildenout, you can opt out of receiving junk mail.
If you can, tell us how. I've asked several times at my local post office and was always told no. The only way to "opt out" is to refuse all mail. At least that's what I was told.

I've never had any problems with USPS. Staff has always been polite and courteous. Once sent something registered mail, the receiver claimed to have never received. Since it was sent registered, I was able to prove otherwise.

Reducing junk mail

Every unsolicited letter offer I receive and has a prepaid envelope it gets returned to the sender. I sometimes use duct tape to sell the envelope so nothing falls out.

I sent back to North American Hunting Club an 18 ounce first class envelope filled with letter size pieces of steel and a note: Take me off your mailing list . It worked.

AARP gets a lot of junk mail returned to them along with mailers that don't include the postage paid envelpe. I always include something with my address so they know who sent the envelpe to them. Eventually, my name is removed from their list.

Every Tuesday I get a full pack of junk mail and sales flyers -- time to get the junk  !!

I had a run in with them years ago. I was working in a mail room. I had to do what was basically a bulk mailing, about 1000 envelopes worth.

They would not give me a discount because they said it was not a bulk mailing. So I had to afix first class postage to them. Then I stuffed them into the mailbox across the street. Which got me a letter stating that bulk mail had to be brought to the post office in flats, or they would not be delivered. If I put 1000 envelopes into the mail box again the company would be fined.

They would not give me the discount, but wanted me to do their job.

They are the most lazy people on the planet, and think they have a hard job. I think the only way they can loose their job is if they really do "go postal". Ed

Update, finally received my package. 10+ days for priority 2nd day postage. Funny part is that their tracking system still shows it in San Fran.
Oh well, it is what it is.

I'd be happy if they'd just put in a "No Problems, No Gripes. I Just Wanna Buy/Mail Somethin'" window.

Some around my area ive seen wearing one of those 80s Hawiian Shirts-thinking they are in an episode of Magnum P.I. Others ives seen in torn sweatshirts and one guy--who I learned was from Louisiana--came dressed wearing Knee-length Moccasins with frills, and a buckskin jacket. Actually looked pretty cool :-))

The one that got me though--was the guy trying to dress like John Wayne in: Rio Bravo--crushed hat and all.

I had one major problem with an UPS delivery about 1997. I was getting a rifle in from a dealer in Houston--and though my APT building was clearly numbered-the doors were also clearly numbered--that guy could never seem to find my apt. I had to take a day off of work just to get to their area WH--and I was in line for about 3 hours--only to find my rifle was loaded on a truck getting shipped back to the dealer I bought it from. I had received only one message saying a delivery had been attempted--which was left on the wrong door in the wrong apt building. I called the number-was told a delivery attempt had been made-three days in a row--when in fact--only one attempt had been made.

I got in line just before they locked doors for the day (3PM) and was one of the last people in the building. The person handling everyone was slower than frozen Molasses in Winter. Had it not been by chance that a supervisor came into that area--that my rifle would have been left on said truck-shipped back to dealer-then more money out of my pocket to get the rifle shipped back to me. The money part didnt irritate me-the lying about delivery attempts didnt irk me-the taking a day off and waiting at least 3 hrs in line didnt anger me--what angered me was after the elation of getting my package--I noticed the entire rifle butt had been sticking out of a large hole in the box it was shipped in and clearly anyone looking at the box, KNEW what was in it. Luckily--I didnt see any damage-so I let it go at that, thanked the supervisor for stopping the truck and getting my package off it.

I have had the same problems with the USPS. I get collectibles from a friend overseas. The latest package, via registered-mail, has been sitting in FL for a week now. I live in GA. No way it takes a week to get from FL to GA. I queried on this problem before and was told to stuff it, literally. They were under no time-constraints and I should be happy to get them at all. Yup, mighty fine customer-service.

Would not surprise me at all if this gets to Atlanta and it sits there for another week. That has occurred before, too. USPS, neither rain, nor snow, nor hail......

A person riding a three-legged Pony working for the Pony Express-can deliver it faster. All I can add is--good paying jobs NEED to be awarded to people with a good attitude.
No offense to any with bad attitudes. :D
