Well as the title says I am buying a .45 in the coming week and I wanted to ask all of you about the M&P .45 full size.
What are my after market options. What are the more attractive features it offers. etc... I am set on buying this or a Glock 21sf. .. The after market options are well known for the Glock brand but whats up with the M&P???

First off I just want to tell you all how thankful I am with your fast responses and input with the vast knowledge on all things M&P...

Just kidding! I went to the range today and shot a Glock 21sf and M&P.45. The M&P felt a billion times more comfortable in hand than the Glock. The Glock had a better trigger but the man who owned it told me there was a trigger for the m&p from a company called apex that is 100% smoother and crisper than the stock M&P or glock trigger. Also I liked the fact that the slide had aggressive serrations in the front and in the back for press checks and injured racking. I was also impressed with how easy it was to put the sight picture back on target after recoil. the g21 was not so great at that. my hand tended to press the glock to far down after recoil however the M&P seemed to come back to target and have a clear sight picture with more natural movement than the glock.

Anyway i made up my mind.
M&P.45

To bad i have to wait 10 more days.

Bummer you have to wait for 10 days, Last week when I decided to go with the M&P45 I walked out the same day with the gun. Not that it really matters all that much because the range won't open up till spring. :)

I chose the M&P over the Glock for the same reasons you did. the M&P has better ergonomics for me. As for the trigger, at this point my M&P45 has a perfectly serviceable trigger for a combat pistol. If at some point I decide to turn it into a target pistol then I may do a Burwell trigger job to it.

yeah i think the grip angle of the glock really made it not so great for dealing with the .45 recoil.. My hand naturally wanted to cant it forward as where the m&p like a 1911 just felt more consistent with where my hand wanted to go after recoil. Sights right on target. At 25 yards i shot better with the m&p with the heavy trigger than i did the glock.

My M&P serves duel purpose. It's my EDC (45c) and my night stand gun as I can put my Streamlight on it.
I installed the Apex (DCAEK) kit on it and improved the trigger big time. It still has a long take up, but its real smooth and breaks at 5.5 lbs.
Apex has a Youtube video on how to do the install, pretty straight forward. I think you made the right choice. Enjoy it when you finally get it. Thank god I live in Florida.

Yea the DAO trigger seems so much safer in my opinion. I do not want to be all nervous when i hear a bump in the night and shoot my daughters cat by accident lol... (you all know what i am saying)

Seriously though i am used to da revolvers and have shot them for years. The trigger on the M&P was a lot like them with the long heavy pull but it also was not so smooth. A bit grainy. The ergonomics and recoil really is what helped sway my decision. Also knowing i can get a butter smooth trigger for it was nice as a piece of mind because i will be upgrading it very soon after.

I was going to buy the M&P then I found the Glock 21 Gen 4. Although the M&P is a great gun, I felt the Glock was just a little better.
