Going To The Range

Today is the first day of 2014, so I am going to start it off by going to an indoor range and decrease my ammo supply of 45 and 9MM. Who's shooting today?

Good idea to get it in today. The weather report says you guys will be getting a decent amount of snow tomorrow and Friday. I'd love to go today but all the indoor ranges near me will be closed and it's just too cold to shoot outdoors...for me at least. Happy new year!

My range (Ben Avery, Phoenix) is closed today... I like to go on Wednesday for two reasons -

1) It's the first day of the week they're open. New target frame cardboard

2) Middle of the week, experienced shooters, lots of good bullseye guys and classic guns

Then I like to go on a Sat or Sun as well because -

1) It's another day to shoot..

2) There's lots of IN-experienced and new shooters and families. Everyone stays pretty safe, thanks to the RSOs. And I like seeing people ENJOYING themselves out target shooting. Seems we never see news stories about stuff like "Happy family shooters practice their hobby and nobody dies".

Staying home, Red Lobster lunch (gift card) with Mrs Engineer, and then watch Wisconsin Badgers kick South Carolina Game Hens butt (son-in-law's alma amater).

Later, Nebraska will shell out the Georgia Puppies. Yes I intensely dislike southern football teams. This maybe the Bible belt, but college football is not a religion.

Today was the last day to kill Bambi and I tried all day. Didn't fire a shot. I will shoot a bunch tomorrow. Thursday is lunch day at the gun club. A bunch of us fat, retired people go eat, shoot sporting clays and tell lies. Larry

There was snow on the ground but the temp wasnt bad. Took the 617 and 5" 27-2. Hadn't shot a handgun for a few weeks, good way to start the new year IMHO.
