I just got 5 boxes of this stuff to see how it works out in my 3" barreled Kimber. Anyone have any experiences or insight with it they'd like to share? I know this has been hit on before in the past but I couldn't locate the older threads. Thanks.

Let me know how it works fo you....I have been looking for some of it, but it has been sold out. I also have a Kimber 3" that I want to use it in.....

My understanding is that most .45 ACP hollowpoint ammo is engineered to perform optimally from 5" guns. Seeing as the SB stuff is created with short barrels in mind, Speer ammo tends to have a rounded ogive that tends to feed well, and Speer's engineers seem to have their act together, I'll guess you're on the right track. I certainly can't tell you there's anything higher on my list for that application. Ultimately your gun will tell you what it thinks and that's the most important opinion of all. ;)

Aside from that load, lighter bullets should yield higher velocities and thus be more likely to work well from a short barrel. Corbon's 165 gr. JHP might be worth a look if the Speer stuff doesn't pan out.

If you want me to chrono it from a 5in gun send me 5 rounds(I'll pay for em) and Ill run the across the Chrony. Been thinking of these rounds as a good alternative to my HST stash.

I'd be interested in it as a carry load for my BIL Kimber Ultra CDP.
(3" 1911' .45ACP). I currently have him with 2 Wilson sticks full of 230 Federal Hydra-Shok's.

Been using it since it came out in a SA Micro. Best of the loads I've tried in that gun for accuracy and feeding with hollow points. No hiccups in a whole lot of rounds. My standard carry round for that gun.

The 5 boxes I ordered should be here on Wednesday, so I hope to be able to render an opinion before too much longer. Thanks for the input thus far.
