I've been watching this model 18-3 on GB and wonder if it's a good buy for under $400?

Sorry deleted.

I'm not looking for a collectable Smith just one to start my collection as a shooter.

Thanks,
Crush

I would be surprised if that ONLY goes for $400. That, and you came to the lions den and showed them a bunch of fresh meat. You may have added competition to the bidding.

What's GB ? ;)

Bluecrush, I'm not gonna snipe you. :D:D:D I ain't got 400 for anything. ;)

Welcome to the forum and let us know where the bidding stops. Good luck.

I looked at your hello/aloha post and you mentioned the K-22 and 17.

I guess you've seen the prices of them.

I just bought a K-22 and I'm very happy. All are good guns. Just think about what you want in your .22 They don't make them like they use to.

There's lots of good threads on each model here on the forum.

There are lots of K frame .38 specials out there that are still reasonably priced. The .22 caliber is definately cheaper to shoot. I recently bought a mod 18 at a gunshow for $400 and I think I got a very good deal. Go look in the classifieds. These guys around here will fix you up with lots of stuff.

Hello Bluecrush

If you are looking to obtain the M-18-3 for shooting and it is a sound revolver as to the barrel, cylinder and the action is sound you will not find a better revolver for your needs. Most times a S&W revolver that shows use continues to perform in spite of outward appearance. You will not be sorry you took the plunge. Go for it and enjoy!
