With all the jamming problems and issues with god-knows-what on here, I figured I'd just tell you guys about my range day
I took my M&P 10 to the range yesterday for the first time and sighted in my TRS-25 red dot sight.
I used a laser bore-sight to get it dialed in and it was surprisingly close to start. I had a couple clicks to make and I had the dots married up in less than 2 minutes.
First off, before even going to the range I took it apart and cleaned the WHOLE DAMN GUN, then lubed it up like everyone told me to do and lo and behold... no issues.
I ran the stock mag - no problems, then I ran two PMAGs as well - no problems. I was shooting Winchester 147gr at 50yds, killing that center mass ring on the target. I put about 75 rounds downrange, thankful I paid $6 for the butt pad I have on the standard stock. I am considering a cheek-pad or maybe a new stock equipped with one; it just rubs a little is all.
It was my first time shooting with a red dot sight so having both eyes open was unnatural at first but I adapted quickly. I was impressed with how accurate my shots were and how easy it was. I was shooting a 3-inch group at 50yds, then moved the target up to 25 and had it in 1.5 inches. Follow up shots weren't terribly hard but I definitely had to recenter consciously every time.
I was shooting with a contractor friend who's company issues DPMS .308's for his jobs and he said he much preferred the M&P and my setup to the DPMS, which obviously put a smile on my face whether he meant it or not.
I brought her home, cleaned her up (the rifle, not my buddy) and put her back in the safe. Looking forward to trying another scope next time, my Vortex Crossfire II 5-16X40 or maybe that UTG CQB Bug-buster I picked up a while back.
Pics of my rifle to follow soon, I know everyone loves pictures
