Roy Rogers Quick Trigger Shooter Hat: Vintage Toys & Games for Christmas - YouTube

Roy Rogers, born Leonard Franklin Slye (November 5, 1911 -- July 6, 1998), was an American singer and cowboy actor, one of the most heavily marketed and merchandised stars of his era, as well as being the namesake of the Roy Rogers Restaurants franchised chain. He and his wife Dale Evans, his golden palomino, Trigger, and his German Shepherd dog, Bullet, were featured in more than 100 movies and The Roy Rogers Show. The show ran on radio for nine years before moving to television from 1951 through 1957. His productions usually featured a sidekick, often either Pat Brady, (who drove a Jeep called "Nellybelle"), Andy Devine, or the crotchety George "Gabby" Hayes. Rogers's nickname was "King of the Cowboys". Evans's nickname was "Queen of the West."

I remember those and I wanted one (didn't get it). Can you imagine such a commercial on TV today? They would have to medicate half the Senate to calm them down.:eek::eek:

CW

Wish I had my old one. I was young but remember it. Not too much PC in those days. We use to take our cap guns to school and never got a second look.

But my God, that awful shirt Roy was wearing in the TV spot! Even by the standards of the time, that was a monstrosity!

Gabby was the only real sidekick in my book. Loved that old geezer. And then there were the Sons Of The Pioneers...I feel very old.

Hell, I am very old.

I don't believe that I never saw that toy!!!

Can you imagine what Feinstein would do today if they put something like that up for sale to middle school children???

Funny..............

I remember seeing that commercial--in black and white--when it first came out. Even as a little kid, I thought it was a pretty darn impractical way to carry a BUG.

Wonder if Ol' Roy's hat ever traumatized any hat check girls....
