Gentlemen: Just one question, & I don't want to rain in anyone's parade. I am thinking of selling my FS M&P45 for the new Ruger SR45. Pros and Cons??? The reason, I also own a SR1911, and thought that a "matching set" would be nice. Thanks in advance. JJ

M&P proven design. SR NOT A proven design.

Are you looking for handguns or trying to match your purse to your skirt :) "matching set would be nice"....sheesh!

I think it's a good idea. I just saw a review on the SR45 and it was quite favorable. There is A LOT to be said for having 'matching' or similar equipment. You become familiar with a system and your actions become automatic, muscle memory and all.

I haven't seen or held the new SR45. How much can you get one for? Is the grip like your SR1911?

.

I personally love my M&P45 and would not do the deal. Like stated above the M&P is a proven firearm, accurate, more accessories, no recoil, etc. I'm not a fan of ruger center fire semi-auto's, but that's MY opinion and we have our own preferences.

I own an Sr1911 which i love. i also own an M&P45, 9, 40 all FS. Now my dad owns an SR9 and SR45. I CANNOT stand the backstrp on the SR9 or SR45. When i shoot them the gun seems to twist in my hand. Its almost like its too square. IMO the grip is far worse than on the SR1911

I would keep the m&p but it's more because of personal opinion. If the SR 45 has the same safeties as the SR 9 it's to many for me.

Thanks guys, and you too Arik. I bought the M&P 45 used, and although I like almost everything about it, I can sell it for almost as much as I paid, purchase the SR45, and pocket a few bucks.

Ruger has yet to make a center fire pistol that I like. That doesn't mean they aren't decent guns.

While the SR45 is new, the SR9 and SR40 have been around a little while and have received good reviews. Since it's built on the same platform, I suspect it will be just as good. Just like the M&P .45 is just a slightly larger version of the 9mm and 40S&W.

In the end, only you can tell if it's a worth while trade. If it were me, I'd be looking to just add to my collection rather than the trade.

All of the autos that I have (Even the composite frames) have steel or aluminum frame rails. I believe that Ruger's frame rails are composite, molded with the frame as a unit. If true, this would be a definite deal breaker. I was selling for a dealer at gun shows until last March. Things moved fast at the tables, so I couldn't look inside. I made the above statement based on a cursory inspection. If I am in error about Ruger's rails, please let me know.

Lost Lake: There are two on-line sellers right now, that have them in stock with free shipping (don't know if I can disclose who) $409.99 & $415.09 ~ Pretty good for a pistol with a suggested retail of $529
Tex1001: Will look into that, Thanks
Rastoff: A dam good idea, can't ever have enough quality firearms.
Gentlemen: Thank you.
