...Mostly Shotgun/pistol powder...but a fair amount. an 8 lb jug of Longshot 5 1/2 lbs of 7625 5 lbs of Green Dot Some Rex powder...not much 4 pounds of Promo..couple pounds of Red Dot...a can of 2400 another can of Unique and a 12 lb keg of what is called no dot Red Dot. I remember them selling a no dot red dot substitute back yonder. I think it was to be used with Clays data...Can't remember when exactly. may have later been called Clay Dot D Walt might remember better than me but I do remember discussions about it.

And here I thought I was doing well with ten pounds of trail boss

Heck you're doing better than me...10 pounds of Trail Boss is extremely hard to find...very hard. Not certain any has been available for a while. With all the powder I have I probably only have 2 or 3 cans. They only have like 10-12 ounces. I also missed one powder..about 2 1/2 pounds of Win 571/HS 7...and of course the 3 pounds of Dupont 4759 I got last weekend. Those BPCR shooters like it

7625 is my favorite 9mm 115 fmjhb powder. Don't have much left, and believe it was discontinued.

I got the No Dot from an estate. It is in a 12 pound Black Dupont(7625 is in a 12 pound can too) can that had 700 X powder originally. I think it is the Clay Dot powder. Fellow that passed was a big time Trap shooter. I also kinda inherited 2 55 gallon containers of once Fired STS Remington empties and some (quite a few) wads. Going to sell the wads and empties for the widow...Got another Spolar loader to sell too. Trapshooters liked that Longshot

7625, 4756, PB were all DC'd at the same time 4769 too. I have at least a 5 lb can of each already

Read that they have discontinued Trail Boss.

Promo can be used as a substitute for Red Dot by weight and not by volume, and that info came to me directly from Ben Amonette, ballistician at ATK.

Promo is a flake powder and it has no color dots… and given the information above, it sure seems like a decent nickname might be "no dot Red Dot" but I have never heard that term before this thread.

I bought an 8-pounder of Promo at the start of the Barackolypse and used dang near every single flake in .45 Auto handloads…. and the math ended up being something in the neighborhood of 11,000 rounds if I remember correctly.

When the 8 pounds was used up, I waved bye bye and decided that times would have to be tough for me to ever want to buy more Promo.

I have plenty of experience using Win 231 for my 45s...in fact I have 3 pounds of Win 230...the predecessor

The large containers of powders are more useable with shotshell loading. At one time I got 25 lb containers...then they went to 15s 12s and now 8's...of course I sold it by the pound in cardboard containers and bags.

I've got lots of powder......

I stocked up when powder was scarce but I got whatever I could buy that worked in the calibers I load for. I just hope I have enough of the right kinds. Of course I can use any of them, but I've gotten used to using a lot of stuff like HP-38, Acc #7 and 2400, plus others.

7625 is a very good powder for low pressure 12ga loads. The vintage shotgunners love the stuff for that reason. There were published loads using it with chamber pressure reading (PSI) down in the mid 4K and 5K range to start.
Usable in 10ga for the same reason.

I had two 12# kegs of it,,the black steel drums. I went through one of them and still have the other unopened.

It's also a powder you can load in most pistol calibers.

'No Dot',,that's a term I've never heard of.
I used to use Clays for several yrs for my 12ga reloads. I found a nice easy load for the older guns. Then Clays got to be hard to find and I switched to Alliant 'Clay Dot'. That works just as well and i use the same bushing in the MEC for it.
Recently stumbled across an 8#'r of orig Clays in the pile of stuff that is my reloading supplys. So I guess I am set there.

I load 20 and ocassional 16ga with Red Dot. 3/4oz loads.
Lot's of RedDot loads in CF rifle. light loads using 10 to 12gr

4227 gets used in .401 WSL. I save it for that.

Still have quite a bit of Alcan powder as well. A 'get it out of my house' gift. Can't remember the Alcan #'s, but I did look up some data and remember that one was good for 38spcl and some 357 loads. The other was more useful for heavy payload 12ga IIRC.
Along with them came an unopened 10#(?) can of 4759 and a big unopened can of Herco (8#,,maybe?).

More powder is good powder...
I guess it'll all be usefull for something even if I never use 'em.

Wow gotta love the above post with 2 or more likes. Alcan 8...heavy 12 and 10 ga. I sold my 401 Win and gave the fellow a pound of 4227...have 7 or so more. Herco is a great powder...slightly slower Unique. . I used to use 7625 I think in 20 and 28...years ago. Never used Red Dot in rifle but have been told works well. I used to use Green Dot in 12 and 20. I think I have at least 10 pounds of 2400. I keep finding it at gun shows estates and usually get the cardboard cans for 10 bucks or so. Haven't gotten into the corners of the estate thing but I did see a 5 lb Blue Dot...but don't know if it is full. Does the Clay Dot look somewhat like Clays??. Heck I have about 5 pounds of a 25 pound Solo 1000 keg left here. I bought 5 25 pound kegs at the World Skeet shoot one year. Price was right...but I don't really load 12 ga any longer. Think I should get rid of some powder. Soon.

That must have stung a little in the wallet.

I recently picked up a 4 pound jug of Power Pistol, it was all they had and I hesitated buying it. I decided what the heck, I load a lot of my handguns with it, so I'm set for a while and already have a fair amount (for me) of other powders.

I had some difficulty selling remnants of 12 and 8 lb kegs of shotgun powders. SW MT is not really shotgun country. I was able to move some but many were concerned about nitro leaching out of paper containers. Their comments were generally OK in shotguns but might not be in small charges in handguns.

IIRC, there was a Clays, and a Universal Clays. Clays was similar to Bullseye and Universal [after a name change from Univ. Clays] was similar to Unique.

Didn't cost all that much esp with powder prices today...And open keg powder is, if not questionable concerning. After all these years I can tell many powders apart from one another. I happened to know this fellow that all this stuff belonged to. He didn't mess around. Very careful loader. In all the years I have bought estates I have only seen one pound of mixed powder...and it was marked all over the can. And got some European cut flake powder that I just disposed of. Most of that kind of powder was sold here in the 50s and maybe early 60s by Alcan...and I have loading data...but not certain about the appearence...so up in smoke! I'm going to have to check on the No Do red dot....I am pretty certain it is Clay Dot. I dob't have much use for Promo...a 12 ga powder with no pistol data that I knpw pf anyway

Therewere 3Clays Powders...Clays...International Clays and Universal clays..Later shortened to one words . Powders are pretty stable and not much danger of Nitro Leaching in flake and ball powders.I once bought an estate that a lady hod poked a hole in the seals of 20 pounds of powder...filled 'em with water. I drained the water out of a pound of L'il Gun...dried it and later loaded it in both 22 Hornet and 410 AAs. Compared to new fresh powder they were both statistically identicle in velocities. I was told they would be fine. By one of the chemists for Dupont...Dupont stick powder can and may degrade over time.. But the same Dupont guy said If I had some Dupont stick powders with a bit of red rust dust in a can...dump it in a strainer to get rid of the rust dust...and go ahead and use it...If I felt unsafe reduce my load by 3%

"Trapshooters liked that Longshot".

Were they at a Turkey shoot?
I tried Longshoot powder and it was way too loud for me, in a 12 Ga. trap load.

I'm on my last inch of 4759 and will miss it but I will not buy any more.
I use a lot of Red Dot, Green and Unique in my 12 Ga. trap loads,
along with my 38, 9mm and 357 target loads.

You did well, in adding to your supplies.

..... Does the Clay Dot look somewhat like Clays??. .....

'Alliant Clay Dot' powder has small terra cotta dics/dots in with the powder to ID it. Much the same way Green Dot and Red Dot are identified.

The actual shade may differ slightly, but this is primarily what they are colored.

Gonna take a look at that powder. I actually paid nothing for that powder. I know a fellow that probably bought powder with the deceased gentleman. If it was a surplus powder I know who to talk to about it. If I can find some data I won't have to burn it. I weighed the can. 17 1/2 pounds with the metal can...so about 15 pounds of powder

The longshot was developed for Handicap shooting and long range trap games...an pistol too I think

I guess you guys are correct. They are not pound cans.
I got lucky, a gun shop in Vermont was closing up and emptied the shipping container out back. I grabbed a little of everything, but this was all the trail boss he had. The REAL find was eight original Colt 1903 .380 magazines. He gave me a deal at $20 per.
