One of my family members is in the process of moving and no longer needs the gun safe that he used to store his stamp and coin collections. I explained to my better half that we should buy more guns to fill it up but she won't go along with my idea. Since I already have a quality safe for firearms storage, this one will provide secure storage for ammo and accessories.

Re: The Spouse, sounds like it's time to start rehearsing the old "Hey, how did that get in there!" line.

I hope you gave him a few Benjamin's for it or at least his favorite adult beverages!!

Store half of the old guns in the new safe, then add new guns to the old safe. Anytime asked, open the new safe - nope, just the same old guns in there.

Alternatively, store 'her' guns in the new safe.

Give us your wife's name and we will start sending her e-mail on why you should buy more guns to fill it up!

I don't advocate lying to your wife (after all she is supposed to be your best friend), but I used to sell guns to a co worker who would tell his wife he paid about half of what he actually paid. I told him one day that when he passed away I would offer to buy the guns back from his widow, and he said "after I'm dead, I won't care." He had a separate source of income (inheritance invested). He told me tht one time his wife came into a small inheritance and she had plans to buy new drapes etc. My friend convinced his wife to invest the inheritance and take quarterly payouts. He said he felt each partner needed a little spending money that he (or she) didn't have to account for.

Nice score on the safe, I am sure eventually you will get it filled.

I was once sent a free safe. There was also a coupon for a local restaurant attached but it was only for that night. Turned out to be a very expensive dinner.....

When it comes to gun purchases, I believe in don't ask, don't tell. If she don't ask then I don't tell. Putting new purchases in the safe after she goes to sleep prevents the ask part. I am a firm believer in Hassle Avoidance from the complainer in chief.

Our youngest is starting year number 3 at ASU and we are helping her out, just as we did with our first 2 kids. Nonresident tuition has hampered discretionary spending a bit.

So many Smiths, so little money...
