That's right, added another revolver to my new and growing revolver collection. I am new to revolvers but have the bug real bad. First was a 640 pro series, then model 617 6", and today I found a 629 classic 6.5" 44 mag at a lgs. Bought it used, paid $650 and hoping someone can give me some info on it. It is a 629-3 sn# looks like BPW4567. Hoping for some info or at least get pointed in direction to look. Thanks in advance. Now if I could just get a 686 4" I would be set.

No, then you will discover how great the 686 looks with a 3" barrel. Then you will discover K-frames with 3" barrels. Then you will discover.....

It's hopeless, there is virtually no recovery. Just relax and enjoy the trip. :o

I like the 617 and the 629 Classic. Guns guaranteed to give you a case of "I need more" syndrome...

Anyone have info on where I can try to find out some history about the 629-3 model. I really like it and the 617, been thinking about selling the 640 pro to finance the purchase of the 686 or 629 with 5" barrel.

I have found the SCSW 3rd to be as required as ammo for anyone wanting to get into these great guns.

already bought the book but it isn't helping much. There is some information in the book and if I am reading it right the gun was produced early 90's but i'm not 100% sure.
