Got my 1960's Schwinn Cruiser

A while back I posted about finding a mint Schwinn "Breeze" for the wife and wanted a bike like I had when I was a child.
Found this Schwinn reproduction made in 1995 and stole it price to boot. Rides like a boat, just as I remembered. I found out that there are quite a few vintage bike group rides.

My best friend had one of those in black. They are neat and remind me of my youth.

They used to rent bikes like that on the boardwalk in the New Jersey town I grew up in. People would do bike rides early in the morning, before the beach crowd got there.
We all had bikes like that too. We lived on those bikes all summer long.

Schwinn Bike

In the 1940-1950 era a Schwinn Bike was the "Top Of The Line" and American Flyer was next.

I had one like that, except the front fender was different. Didn't have that light or reflector as I recall.

Mine would have come via Santa's sleigh, in the mid-50s sometime.

Schwann was what held up for newspaper routes. A hundred Sunday papers in a handlebar bag and hopping curbs they really held up.

Back in my days, if the bike did not have a front basket or the
metal rack in back, it was of no use to the kids that lived all around me.........

it was a long way to school and we needed something to hold our books and lunch box !!
