S&W told me this morning that the ship date was 1994. Serial #BSE18**.

Gun is a little rougher than I'd hoped but shoots to POA and is mechanically sound. Amazing how much finish and grip wear can happen to a non-respected gun in 19 years. Hit a couple areas with cold blue and polished with steel wool. Plan to replace the stocks with targets if I can find them or some new diamondwood magnas.

It's not horrible, it's just an 80% gun at best. Then again, that's what they promised on the website.

I would love to know who made the replacement stocks as they are obviously the real deal absent the medallions.

I don't know about everyone else, but the aftermarket grips on the pictured revolver look more like S&W grips than today's S&W grips available on the S&W web site - I am talking about the so-called service grips they now sell which are made of laminated wood.

Are all the ones they are selling non-MIM with spur hammer?

I just picked up my Model 10 from Buds today as well, not bad for the price, pretty pleased with it overall. Anyone know of a place to look up the serial number so I can determine its age?

Just got this 10-10 in from Buds as well. It had the medallion though, maybe since it's a rounded butt? Can't wait to shoot it.

The grips are curious w/o the medallions. They are a numbered pair but not numbered to the gun. A friend is sending me a set of Targets that should fit better and which I prefer to shoot with.

05Carbon, I paid $287 and changed shipped using my credit card. They're like $279 cash. Another $25 to my local FFL for the transfer.

Can't speak to anything else about this run other than S&W told me they got this batch back in January of this year and mine was originally shipped in 1994. Had the VPD sticker on it but I removed it. No other import/export markings.

Trim, just call S&W in the morning.

I got one of the 3" Bud's guns last year and it had similar non medallion grips on it. I refinished them but hated them for their bulkiness and sloppy fitment. Looks like the op's grips are better made than mine were.

My 10-8 has those same grips too. Much more wear on this revolver than in the two I got late last year.

John, if you're referring to mine, photo one looks worse than it is on the frame. The side plate looks gray and worn but the bluing is mostly there, same with the barrel. It's not great but I think there's some stray reflection in photo one. The grip, though, is as bad as it looks.

Nice 4".

Here's a near pristine 2" I picked up today at my LGS. This is my first Model 10.

These guns used to sell for less but in today's market they are well worth $275. I have a 2" 10-9 that I carried today. I bought it 10 years ago for $195. If by some chance I had needed the gun to defend myself it would have been worth a lot more than $275 to me.

I've bought 4 of the 4" from Buds, 2 this time and 2 last time around. I never hear about it in time to get a 3".

VPD sticker???

I dunno. I kind of like it the way it is.

As long as it's mechanically sound and smooth inside, let the outside speak to the fact it's been around.

It yells VETERAN!

*sorry for the cell phone pic*

One of two 10-10 (1992 and 1994 ship dates) square butts received last week
or the week before. Both in similar condition and both with PC Magnas as shown
although the other one didn't have medallions.

Another one was ordered last Friday and arrived yesterday. My dealer called and
it's a 1981 vintage 10-8 and he claims it's in better shape than the 2 10-10s.
It came with the non-medallion PC Magnas.
