Got my new S&W FPC

I saw this at the gun store yesterday. They just got them in yesterday morning.

Managed to snag one

Now, I am waiting for the optic I ordered to come in. I watched a Youtube video to show me how t take it apart. It's not too hard, but it's a bit different.

Once I get the optic, I get to shoot it.

I watched a video review last night on Youtube. Guy shot about a 1" group at 50 yards. That's much better than the 2-3" average that the Beretta CX4 shoots. So, I can't wait to try it.

I get a "fist size" group with my Beretta Storms shooting fast at 50 shooting offhand..... never benched it!

I have two CX4s right now, but have owned 4 total. For years, at the Beretta Forum, we have talked about the fact that the CX4 is at best a 2-3" group carbine at 50 yards.

I used to have a SCAR 16S, and then I had a CX4. Both with the EXACT same optic. I could do 1/2" groups at 50 yards with the SCAR. And, about 3" groups at 50 yards with the CX4.

We'll see how this one does...

IMHO the CX-4 is a personal defense weapon (PDW) in 9mm it's IMO a 50-75 yard gun.......OK you can stretch it to 100 with a good 10-12" hold over! With a red dot, without anyone shooting back, I can keep them in the 10 ring at 50.... real fast inside the 9. Never expected MOA at 100yds.

At 5.5lbs it pairs nicely with my Beretta Centurion Tactical and you can use Factory/Mec-gar's 15,17,18,20 and 30 rd mags

Better than a pistol if the SHTF in an urban environment not as good as a rifle in open country!

IIRC it was designed as a full/semi-auto submachine gun with a 12" barrel..... currently in service in S Am and India.

How much did it end up costing you? Did it also come with a bag? I had one in my "shopping cart" from a large sporting goods store and went to get my CC out of my wallet and it ended up being sold out. I really do not need it but it looks like a great plinker for my family.

Don't get me wrong - I like the CX4. That is why I own two. But, depending on how this shoots, I may sell 1 of my CX4s. It's nce to have a duplicate, in case I need parts.

But, this S&W carbine is lighter than the CX4. Of course, I am throwing on a 14oz optic, but it will still be lighter.

Best I ever could do with the CX4 was 2-3" at 50 yards and 8" at 100 yards.

At the Beretta Forum, 6-8" at 100 yards seems to be the norm.

$600 + tax was what they are charging here. They had at least 1 more too.

Yes, it comes with the bag. Although, I plan to use a different bag to carry it. But the included bag is nice.

I'm going to also look..... more for the "folding" thing than the .5lb weight savings. Added to my post above..... the Beretta gets nod based on my having "several" Beretta 92s and mag selection.

Think my optic a TSR-25 weighs about 4oz at most

Only have 1 M&P and half a dozen mags.

Well, I want something that will withstand Texas summer heat, if i keep it in the car. It can get 160F easy in the summer in a car. I don't want any electronics for that

The charging handle was stiff. It took some break in and lube to get it smoother and easier to operate.

The gun feels even lighter than its actual weight. The weight is concentrated between your strong hand and your shoulder.

I agree that the front end is light, so it feels lighter than it is.

I picked one up on Wednesday and sighted a dot in today with no malfunction of any kind! 150 rds of various weights. Laser bore sighted and only a couple of clicks needed. I love this setup and will put on some flip up backup sights. Thanks Smith and Wesson for a new very cool platform. Nice matchup with my MP 9C.
Target was at 10yds and 15 rounds (noy lying) lol

I shot mine a couple of days ago, I have a Sig Romeo red dot. 170 rounds down range. no issues..

I've now got 500 rounds through the FPC with zero issues.

I shot a 6 stage and a 5 stage steel challenge match and an IDPA style match over a span of three days. I shot factory 124 grain, brass cased, FMJ rounds for all matches. I cleaned the gun after each match.

For me the perceived recoil is less than my Ruger PC Carbines or the PSA AR9 that I had.

The weight and just over 30 inch length make it easy to handle.

The cross bolt safety isn't as easily manipulated as an AR style safety. Easy for a righty to disengage, but I had to use my weak hand to engage it.

The bolt lock levers are too small and a pain to engage. To release the bolt if it's locked back I just pulled back the charging handle and released it.

I've used a variety of M&P mags, including the 23 rounders that came with the gun and have had zero issues. Bolt locked back the few times I shot a mag until empty.

10 pull average for the trigger after 500 rounds is 4 lbs, 6 ounces. Out of the box it was 5 lbs, 2 ounces. After the first 100 rounds it was 4 lbs, 8 ounces.

Everyone who handled the gun at the matches was surprised by how light it felt in their hands. I'm pretty certain I sold at least two for S&W in the last few days.

I FINALLY got to shoot this gun today. 2 separate range trips today. Put 251 rounds thru it total, between the 2 trips. Worked great.

I really like my Mepro 21 optic too.

Picked up at my local gun shop for $559. Got the first and only one they had in shop. Great little shooter.
