Got myself a M41

Found this on a local guns 4 sale board . The gentleman I bought it from had never shot it . He said the original owner never shot it . After looking at it , I'd be willing to bet it's never been shot . I was happy to get it , but I was really happy the box had a pamphlet for S&W knives . I have a couple of older ones and it struck me as pretty neat . The sn dates it to 1978-79 . A long time for a Smith of this quality to go without being shot .

It's gorgeous! It looks a lot like the one I recently found but yours is definitely in higher condition. In almost any handgun, I always choose the longer barrel option but for some reason, the 5-1/2" Model 41 is definitely my preference over the long 7-inch model.

Mine is definitely shooter grade, yours is nicer.

He had a 7 3/8 barreled one , but no box . But on the other hand , it did have the cocking indicator . It had a little mark on it so I went with this one .

I took mine to the range yesterday & fired a few rounds of CCI SV. It's a challenge to have a pistol that is far more accurate than I can hold because there are no excuses for a miss! Your next search (other than more magazines) should be a 7" barrel and then the rare 5" lightweight field barrel. Congratulations on your new model 41!

I got one about 6 weeks ago. It has a 2003 birth date. I put a red dot on it and it is a complete tack driver. You are going to love yours, what's not to love on a 41. https://i.imgur.com/Ym6bQgb.jpg

Great purchase, I have a 41 and I shoot it more than any other pistol. Mine is not ammo fussy but I stick to CCI SV, since I shoot off hand anything more expensive won't be a gain in accuracy for me. When I have shot the gun from a rest the more expensive ammo is slightly more accurate. At 25 yards if the bullet is not in the X ring than the jerk pulling the trigger is the problem. Purchased the heavy barrel version while at Quantico in 1970. Has a really nice trigger. You’ll enjoy shooting it. Haven’t fired mine much, but have yet to have any problems with any of the ammo used.

Congratulations on snagging one of the finest 22 auto pistols made. I bought one earlier this year at a gun show. Mine is a real tack driver, and It seems to get better every time i shoot it. Enjoy it!

I shot a friend's that was just like yours except in well-used condition. As soon as I racked the slide and pulled the trigger on the first round, I said, "Wow!" It was a whole other shooting experience than I had had previously with a handgun. One of these days....

'Til then, my 2206 long-barrel serves the purpose very well. No comparison to a 41, though!

Congratulations! A true S&W semi-auto classic, and still priced in a range that makes it an Obtainium, compared with many of the others that most of us mere mortals can only dream about and salivate over.

Some owners do not realize just how good a gun the M41's really are they sit very lonely in a dark safe for many many years unfired. Thats the Good fortune of the 2nd owner to find it and shoot it and enjoy what it was meant to do all along.
