Ya got me...we have a Fish & Wildlife reg that says long guns have to be unloaded in a vehicle...big deal. But hey, if your OK with CC permits, being told what charity to support in exchange for getting one, a state constitution that explicitly calls out concealed guns as not being protected, and local municipalities being allowed to dream up their own gun laws...then fine. And if I recall, you stated in the past its illegal for you to discharge a gun in the town you live in. FREE STATE!!! HA HA HA!!! And now I think I'll go do a little target shooting in my back yard, with my constitutionally protected concealed gun, in a state where the town can't control it. AKA...A Free State!!!
I will use small words so you can understand. You do not need a permit to carry concealed in Montana. Towns and cities are prohibited from having any gun laws more strict than state law.
45-8-351. Restriction on local government regulation of firearms. (1) Except as provided in subsection (2), a county, city, town, consolidated local government, or other local government unit may not prohibit, register, tax, license, or regulate the purchase, sale or other transfer (including delay in purchase, sale, or other transfer), ownership, possession, transportation, use, or unconcealed carrying of any weapon, including a rifle, shotgun, handgun, or concealed handgun.
(2) (a) For public safety purposes, a city or town may regulate the discharge of rifles, shotguns, and handguns. A county, city, town, consolidated local government, or other local government unit has power to prevent and suppress the carrying of unpermitted concealed weapons or the carrying of unconcealed weapons to a publicly owned and occupied building under its jurisdiction. (Note that they can only restrict publicly owned buildings. Not parks, streets or court yards. Only inside occupied buildings)
(b) Nothing contained in this section allows any government to prohibit the legitimate display of firearms at shows or other public occasions by collectors and others or to prohibit the legitimate transportation of firearms through any jurisdiction, whether in airports or otherwise.
Montana is less apt to be over run by Californians than Vermont is by New Yorkers, and people from Mass and Conn. The average time a Californian lives here is less than 4 years anyway. Plus, most of them are people running from the madness. LOL Plus most of the transplants end up in just 6 counties, the other 50 are very rural that means 100 rural county senators to 12 urban. Who do you think will win.
You may think the law prohibiting loaded rifles is no big deal, but it is actual proof your constitution does not protect your gun rights, and if your state can make it illegal to have a loaded guns in your own car they can most certainly decide to make it illegal to have loaded guns in town. I notice they already have safe zones where you can't shoot. What makes you think they can't and won't make those bigger, or decide to include towns in those zones, there Einstein. Your states very own laws show that they can and do regulate how you carry and where you can shoot.
Plus, how come your state won't let you shoot things like coyotes, fox rabbits etc from airplanes and helicopters. We don't need no license or permit and can do it all year long. We can also can and have coyote hunting contest unlike the underprivileged people of your state. I can also hunt vermin like rabbits fox coons, fox etc at night with a spot light on private property with the owners permission. Can you. No why not? Besides if a game warden or sheriff wanted to see what someone is shooting at during the night on private property here they need to go get a warrant unless the land owner wants to allow them on their place.
I also notice your towns have the power (7) To regulate the manufacture and keeping of gun-powder, ashes, and all combustibles and dangerous materials.
Ours do not. What if yours decides that 10 grains of 2400 is to much LOL
PS If you come on my property and start to commit a felony or threaten me I can legally fire a gun and shoot you deader than a door nail and the sheriff would only say nice shooting. I need to have a valid reason to shoot in the city limits is all. If I have legal range I can also shoot in town in fact we shoot 22s at the civic center in the middle of town.
PS There is a loaded rifle in my truck right now. I can and have drove around with a 2 round mag in my mini 14 and a 30 in my AR and if I want more 30 round mags. I am FREE to go down to any of the local stores and buy all I want anytime I want. But then my state does not restrict my freedoms like yours.
I am sure vermont is a nice state and seeing it would make for a very nice 2 hour Sunday drive
Boy, I do wish I was free to endanger my next door neighbors by shooting my 338 win mag in the city limits. Be so much more convenient than the 10 min drive to use a nice adjustable seat bench the nice covered rifle range that goes out to 600 yards
