Governor Satin Finish Flaking

I just noticed a spot on the frame of my Governor where the finish has flaked off a bit. I can rub it with my fingernail and make it flake off even more.

Is there any rust issues with this finish coming off the frame? It actually looks better with the finish off, giving it a more shiny look.

Anything you all could tell me would be helpful about this. Thanks!

How long ago did you buy your gun, and what have you used to clean it?

Also, where exactly on the frame is the finish wearing? Bear in mind that some spots, like the part of the frame under the forcing cone, are naturally going to have the finish wear very fast.

I bought it in September 2015. The pealing is on the right side of the gun in the flat area between the hammer and cylinder. I don't remember what I cleaned it with other than wiping it down with a silicone rag.

As long as there is no rusting issue, I don't care about the peeling.

You can always contact S&W and relay the info to them. They need to know if they have a product that has possible finish defects.
