I realize that most think that this was a mistake. But...

I wouldn't buy this kind of gun from Taurus but from Smith I've ordered one. What interests me is the possibility of using metallic 410 shells to make a new revolver cartridge. CH is going to make reloading dies and a shell holder. So it will be an interesting, probably pointless, project. Still it is just nuts enough to be interesting, at least to me.

I agree and am very interested in what you come up with. I am going to buy one two to mess around with now that smith is making one and the concept on the all brass is one i too would like to look into. I look forward to your future posts.

Nothing wrong with following your interests. If someone wants a Taurus or S&W in this configuration, that's their business and more power to them. I'd be interested in hearing how your project turns out.

I wouldn't be surprised if a 460 S&W round would'n drop right in, since it's a little shorter that a 410 shell. I would not want to shoot one in the Governor. Bob!

I was thinking of getting a Governor as well, but then realized that I had a 460 PC with a 3.5" barrel. Could things go the other way with a 410 shotshell fitting into a 460? I tried inserting a 410 snap cap (not live ammo!) into the cylinder to check the fit, but it stopped well short before going in. Even if it had seated, the cylinder is just about as long as a 2 1/2" 410 shell and the first shot would probably seized the things up. Personally, I was glad to see that a 410 would not seat in a 460. I don't know about a 460 in a 410 though.

I don't know what you'd do with all that powder capacity in anything but an X frame unless you want to make big clouds of black powder smoke. :D

I hope I'm not the unlucky bystander in the firing lane beside the Govonor owner that makes this mistake.

So it takes .410 shotshells, .45 long colt, and .45 acp. How about .45 Win mag which is just a little longer then the .45 acp? Also what are the possiblites that they would make one in stainless steel?

If S&W has success with the Governor, expect different variations to come out later in the year.

As far as ammo, Hickok45 has a new video where he puts a Judge through it's paces with different brands of ammo. Some very revealing results. I don't want to get into the .410 for self defense debate, but if you are going to use a revolver like this in that role, I think this video presents some great info.

YouTube - The Judge

While all his shooting was done with a Judge, I would expect results from the Governor to be somewhat similar.
