Hi All,
Hope everyone had a nice Christmas & the S&W they wanted. I have a question on the governor. Does anyone know why they change the grips on this model ? I called the factory & talked to the CS dept. but they didn't know why.
Thank You In Advance,

I noticed the different grips also. I like my Hogues but don't know how the others would fit. Maybe someone will chime in about the differences and their choice.

Judging by the photo on the S&W page, it appears they eliminated the smaller bantam grips in favor of new larger grips.

I replaced the bantam grips on mine back when I bought it with larger grips that fit my hand better. I'm sure others did as well. Looks like S&W decided more people preferred larger grips and made the change.

i put an old set of uncle mikes on mine. they are for a k frame round butt and work great. i think it was a money issue. no grip screw, onle one piece, and slip on. IMHO.

I actually prefer the original Hogue Bantams but what ever the reason, the grips are easy to change to suit different preferences.

Governor Grips

I got the model governor for Christmas. from the replies I got ,I think the factory put the larger grips on for those guys who have larger hands. The factory told me that any round k/L frame grips will work. I sent for the Hogue bantam grips that were put on originally on the governor. They fit my small hand better & I like the looks of them better, but the larger grips they now put on, look like may reduce recoil more. It's winter here so it may be awhile before I get out to try out both of the grips out.
