GP100 Snubbie

I've wanted a GP100 for awhile but never seemed to have the cash when my local shops had one I liked.
Yesterday, one of those shops had in a blued model with a 2.5" barrel. Fiber optic front sight on it too. On Ruger's site, it says it's a Talo exclusive. This one is a 6 shot, Ruger has a stainless model that is a 7 shot, but my store said they couldn't get one of those.
I had to do some creative trading but I managed to wheel and deal for this without breaking the bank.
If I'm lucky, I may get out tomorrow and give it test drive.

That is nice. I would have bought it also. I have a stainless 3" GP100 6 shot and it is a great revolver. You will be happy with that one I believe.

I think you'll like it. I have two, a 4 1/4" blued 6-shot .357, and a 3" stainless 5-shot .44 spl. Both eat Skeeter Skelton's 38 and 44 Unique (Keith LSWC's) loads like they were candy. Very accurate and very strong.

Of Ruger's various offerings
in the GP-100 family, this
latest from TALO is one of the
neatest packages yet. You
will enjoy.

For total pleasure, may I suggest
you keep most of your shooting
to normal or hot .38 Special
loadings. So much less blast
yet achieving pretty much what
the magnum loads can do.

Should you find the provided grips
a bit too small and don't mind
something a bit bigger, consider
the standard sized ones with
wood inserts, sold by Ruger, or
the ones from Altamont that
are fancier in rubber texture
and wood panels.

I'll second the standard sized rubber grips with inserts, it's what's on my 3" stainless. Got the whole set up with zebrawood inserts at Chig's

I still prefer the older Speed and Security-Six .357 Ruger revolvers to the GP100. Better looking IMO, and just as strong.

The compact grips work best for me on the 3-inch. For the 6-inch I gotta have the "regular" full size grips since its so nose heavy.

Mine came with larger Hogue style factory grips. I changed them out for the ones with the inserts.
