My grandpa just passed away leaving me his old airweight .38 SPL CTC revolver Mod 12. The model number is C554680. I am looking to replace the grips on this and try to make it a usable gun again. Any advice on where to find parts for this weapon. Would like to use it in honour of my grandpa. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Welcome, and sorry to hear of your loss. The style of this model is a K frame round butt. The wood stocks (grips) on this model gun, however, are thinner than the steel frame version, so you would need to have a seller know (or verify) they will fit a model 12. A post in the Wanted to Buy section here may find you a set. Hope this is helpful.
Edit to add: It may have a round or square butt frame (the former tapers smaller at the bottom, the latter flares wider), but the stocks for either will be thinner than for a steel K frame.

If you are just looking for shooter grade grips, pacmayrs will fit just fine. If you are looking to the replace the factory original grips it will be a little more complicated because of the thinner back strap mentioned previously.

my sincere wish of good luck finding Mod-12 grips. I have had several sets in the past and they go fast. I traded just a right grip to a club member last month for a very nice set of K RB with a screw, and he was very happy.
The Mod 12 is an odd duck in the K frame series of guns, and has a very loyal but small following. Im all ways searching the LGS for grips and parts.

The Model 12 aficionados on this Forum will be of great assistance. I am not 100% sure if the Model 12 was ever actually known as an "airweight". Well, I checked, yep, I guess it was. I have a 4" in my collection; I don't think it is marked "Airweight"; maybe that's why I was incorrect.
Anyway, what I really want to be sure to tell you is to verify if this model has the steel or aluminum cylinder. The folks who know will be able to tell you from the serial number or wait until one of us looks it up. You want to be careful about what/which ammunition you shoot in it, especially if it's an older one with an aluminum cylinder. A magnet can answer that question.
Hornady now makes lighter loaded .38 Special ammunition; I obtained some solely for use in my Model 12, but I don't shoot it much, anyway. Enjoy yours!

There is nothing mechanically wrong with the gun. I am not looking for this to be an every day shooter but one in case my primary fails and I need something to save me or my wife can use if the need arises. I took a little bit of corrosion off the hammer and my brother in law has access to a camera that we could stick down the barrel and everything is great in it.
I will take it down to my local gunsmith and try the pacmyrs on it.

Just for clarification, it is the airweight frame itself that is thinner . . . the grip frame (front and back strap) are the same thickness as a standard K-frame.

My condolences for the loss of your Grandpa and welcome to the Forum.
Very nice looking model 12, they make great carry guns.
