Sting does a pretty cool version of Hendrix' "Little Wing" with some nice guitar work. First one that popped into my head.

BTW-The first person that says "Manfred Mann" should be banned for one week.

For all the old crowd.;)

Nice remake of (Bob Seger's Against The Wind)

Speaking of Seger, his cover of Ann Peebles "Come To Mama" as "Come To Papa" is an old favorite.

Seger does a great job on Ms. Tina Turner's "NutBush City Limits" too. Yea, I'm an old Seger fan.

I can't name the original artist, but Joan Osborne's rendition of "Bring It On Home" is nothing short of seducing. Joan does indeed bring it on home for me.

Elvis Presley's version of Big Mama Thornton's "Hound Dog".
The Beatles cover of The Isley Brother's "Twist and Shout".
Johnny Rivers version of Chuck Berry's "Memphis".
Bob Seger's version of Otis Clay's "Tryin' To Live My Life Without You".
The Mavericks cover of Bruce Springsteen's "All That Heaven Would Allow".

Linda was great.....

She was in demand from many corners. Now she has Parkinson's and says if she tries to sing it comes out as a bark. That's a real shame but at least we have a lot of recordings. I like the 'Trio' with Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris.

Joe Cocker doing "A Little Help From My Friends"
The Animals wrote "Inside Looking Out", but Grand Funk Railroad made it their's.
Most of the tunes that Rare Earth was known for were covers written by earlier Motown artists. Rare Earth rocked them.
Metallica does a decent job on Seger's "Turn the Page".

cdog and labworm,
I wish I had thought of Joan Osbourne in my OP. Her covers really are fantastic! And, if I re-did my OP I would use her version of "What becomes of the Lonely Hearted". Thanks for reminding me of one of the very best cover artists ever. Go to minute 3:12 when she sings "Tell me, tell me". Joan, I'll tell you anything you want!
