Toads are poisonous
Active agents are Bufotene and Bufotoxin.. "Bufu" is latin for toad...

They can excrete it through their skin and the toad biter will immediately start to salivate profusely. Immediate treatment is to rinse out the biter's mouth with a strong stream of water. Like with a garden hose nozzle.
That's for the American versions... The Cane Toad, an imported pest, is a magnum toxic version. Last I heard it was still limited to Florida. They like dog food and will start eating any "leftovers" in Rover's bowl, Rover sees this and gets p'od and exerts his desire for territorial control and grabs the Bufo in his mouth and the same thing happens except this toad is very very toxic. You may find a collapsed dog , a dead dog, or a salivating staggering dog. Again first thing is rinse out the mouth vigorously, then find a vet or vet er service. Heart arrhythmias can progress to ventricular fibrillation, and rapidly..While rinsing do not let the water get swallowed.. Don't try using the toad for frog legs either. The whole critter is poisonous. An Australian medical student ate the ovary of one raw(Hey, I don't have the imagination to make this stuff up

). After three cardiac arrests, he survived, but with myocardial damage. Gives new meaning to that old ad "Hey, bet you can't eat just one"
