Going to pick up my new Sigma SW9VE today. Can't wait to spend some time on the range with it. This forum has been a tremendous resource. Thanks to everyone. This is my first ever hand gun...though I have owned various rifles/shotguns throughout my life. Learned to shoot at an early age: first at summer camp and then in PE while at the University of Iowa taught by ROTC instructors and was the best class I ever took!!!

Greetings from North Central Illinois. Where are you located in Illinois?

I'm in Evanston. I just got back from the range...man o man do I need help. I couldn't hit the side of a barn!!!! I was extremely nervous, mostly due the noise. I was really jumpy. I think I'll take a course. Fascinating sport, though. I have tremendous respect for those out there who can do this well. Why I waited so long is beyond me!

welcome aboard from the bluegrass state of ky

I am out here in the farm country 90 miles west on IL38.

Joining a club and taking a course of instruction will certainly be beneficial to both your safety and accuracy, as well as your own enjoyment. Out here we have clubs that are indoor and others that are outdoor. Just about every club has some kind of instruction as well as organized shooting activity available to bring you along. Enjoy and always be safe.

Welcome from the flatlands of Kansas. Being an old revolver guy, I remember the first time I shot my 40VE I was way low and to the left. I was aiming wrong, not pulling the trigger straight back and flinching. Don't do what I did-:) Anyway, practice with it and have someone who knows how to shoot watch you and coach you.

Welcome from Texas Rootboy. Great forum for all things S&W, have fun, learn lots, share what you know.
