My name is Alan Somers and I'm just now getting into firearms in my 58th year of life. I purchased a Sig P365 pistol about a month ago, took a beginner how-to-shoot class a week later, completed my LTC training and qualification a week after that, and just ordered a S&W M&P 15-22 on Tuesday as a cheap way to have some fun. I had previously fired a single-shot .22 rifle during one afternoon when I was in my late teens, but a semi-auto will be a new experience.

I'm a pretty new shooter from Texas. I started shooting with the Citizens Police Academy a couple of years ago for the first time when I was 69.

Enjoyed it so I bought a Glock 19 9mm Gen 5. Wanted to get my wife to start shooting to so I bought a S&W M&P 22 compact to do some inexpensive shooting too. She and I shoot weekly and she shoots the .22 and the 9mm both now and has become a pretty darn good shot.

Only problem I have experienced is with the .22 and some of the available ammo. Have had problems with some of the Federal including terrible problems with Federal Automax. 100% FTE and filthy dirty garbage ammo. Federal actually took it back and refunded my money.

Best I find is CCI mini mag with 100% reliability but a little more expensive. Now I mostly am firing Blazer Brass 40 grain and I get about 98% or 99% reliability with the occasional stovepipe and I can live with that.

You can buy that stuff pretty cheap on some of the discount sites.

Look forward to having discussions with you on here and welcome.
