I recently joined to find out about what I thought might be an inaccurate account about the Brazilian model of 1938, also known as the S&W model of 1917. I confirmed that there were only 25,000 in the contract, but as for the 11,000 or 14,000 that were supposedly never sent to Brazil I have not found any verification.

I own two of these nice old revolvers that I have to admit are better than most.

As for me, I am an Air Force Veteran who served from 1983 to 1990. I worked at Century International Arms for a little over a year in 90 - 91. I had a 17 year long problem with a heart condition which I had cured through an ablation procedure last year. (Well at least the problem hasn't resurfaced at this point)

I'm sticking with gunsmithing and collecting for now as well as hunting and the other shooting disciplines.

My wife and I have three children and in our mid 40s are expecting a 4th in early June.

I have a C&R license at the current time, but I am considering a manufacturers license in the future. (I had a dealers license for several years, but things didn't work out at the time for me to open a full service shop)

That's about all you need to know about me except that I don't pull any punches when it comes to politics and freedom. I believe free speech can't be compromised and shouldn't restricted. That doesn't give anyone the right tell someone else their speech is offensive just because they don't want to hear it. I am a Constitutionalist and a conservative and I take my oath seriously.

Welcome from Texas C&RCollector. Great forum for all things S&W, have fun, learn lots, share what you know.

Sounds like you fit in here just fine.

Welcome from Northwest Georgia! I was in the Air Force from 1981-2003. During the time frame you were in, I was stationed at George AFBm 1981-1984, Lackland AFB, 1984-1987, and Myrtle Beach AFB, 1987-1991. If you were at any of these during the same time periods send me a PM.

Thanks for the welcome

It looks like we the only close miss was when I was at Lackland. I was there in 1983 Jan. to Mar. for basics with a get out early ticket.

I hope I will fit in.

Like I said in my introduction I worked at Century International Arms for a little over a year, but what I left out was that I worked on handguns. I worked on S&W 1917s, model 10s, and Ruby (Llama) copies of Smiths. Otherwise it was Colt Systema 1917s, Colt Police Positives, Lugers, Mauser Broomhandles, French MAB Ds, and the odd Stars, Enfields and Browning High Powers.

I always found it easier to do than to explain. I hope I can remember some of the things I learned then to help out here from time to time.

Welcome from TN, C&R! Thank you for your service to our country also!

Thank you all so much for your kind greetings. It seems like only yesterday that I was here so I am surprised to find it has been about two weeks. I hope to reply more often in the future, but I also hope to see your threads in my viewings around the site.
