Grilled Cheese with MAYO!?

I think a grilled cheese sandwich is the ultimate comfort food.

I have a panini maker so I can skip the butter/mayo if I want. I love grilled ham and cheese on sliced sourdough, especially with a fried over easy egg placed inside after grilling.

I also like grilled cheese sandwich served with tomato soup or sliced tomatoes inside are good too.

Types of cheese to use, they are all good, a favorite though is English Coastal white cheddar. It is nicely tangy with crunchy salt crystals. They sell a really good one at Trader Joes. Walmart sells chipotle cheddar and smoked mozzarella slices which are quite nice as well for something different.

I need to go grocery shopping today, cheese is always on my list! :p

My mom uses Mayo on the inside butter on the outside. So much grease you can almost see through them when she's done.

I try to be healthy, toast the bread, put cheese in the middle and microwave to melt the cheese. No butter or Mayo used.

Not as tasty, but healthier.

Grilled Cheese are made with butter on the outside of the toast and mayo on the inside. There is NO OTHER LEGAL METHOD !!!!!

Must have three pieces of cheese....Pepper Jack, mozzarella and Swiss........Anything else is a chargeable offense in my neck of the woods. Add crispy fried bacon and thin sliced dill pickle and you have gone to samitch heaven.

Used to eat a lot of them when I was going to school on the GI bill and didn't have much grocery money. Big blocks of Kraft cheese and day old bread were cheap! Ate a lot of red beans and rice with them as well. Got bacon scraps from the local little store for flavor and a little meat protein. Cooked it all with bacon grease and thought I was living well.

I like using mayo, Wifey likes margarine. Try a grilled PB&J. Jif peanut butter and Smuckers grape jam on the inside and Kraft mayonnaise on the outside, fry until the bread is nice and crispy. You have to eat it with a knife and fork but they are "some kinda good."

With peanut butter?

No but I was amused when visiting Graceland that the
diner offered a banana/peanut butter sandwich.

Yes, fried like a toasted cheese sandwich. Always a debate about whether Elvis preferred white or wheat bread, chunky or regular PB, and if he liked his bananas sliced or mashed. I vote for wheat bread, chunky PB, and sliced bananas. Elvis was a true genius to invent that sandwich.
