Hello:
I'm getting ready to refinish a set of factory grips and would like to pop out the medallians. Anythink tricky before I start prying that flat plate on the back side?
Thanks in advance.

Grip Medallions

Just refinish them w/o removing the medallions. I don't think you're going to hurt them any. I never have. I use Klean-Strip brand Strip-X Stripper. Can buy from Walmart. Use an old toothbrush to get finish away from the checkering.

Hope this helps

For a year or two in the 1960s, the emblems in J frames were plastic. These will dissolve in acetone or stripper!
If you're doing a proper re-finish, you might as well replace the emblems with new ones. Drill the center of the mashed medallion stem, then push it through the washer. Put the new medallions in, lay them on a soft surface, and re-mash the rivet ends of the new medallions.

Where can you get new medallions?
