Grip Question for S&W 442

I have Spresser Stags on mine...not only does Stag look great, but they don't stick to clothes like rubber and the scarring makes for a nice slip proof grip....these aren't any longer but they are a little thicker than the standard wood which makes them a bit easier to shoot...

I put a old set of diamond center service grips on my 442. They fit almost perfectly. They work fine for me and I like the look of the diamonds! The 442 is the right rear one in the pic.

I love the look of the wood, stag, ivory, etc. grips, but for my conceal-carry 442-2 I installed Crimson Trace LG-405 laser grips. My middle age eye sight isn't too good, and the little J's have a reputation of being the most difficult revolver size to master, so I decided that the laser grip made the most sense for me. The extra shock absorber of the LG-405 helps take some of the sting out of shooting +P self-defense rounds like the 135 gr. Speer Short Barrel cartridges.

Am I correct, the 405 has the back strap exposed? So it doesn't make the grip any larger except along the front of the grips?
