This may not be the correct thread to post, but I have a question. If you look on the right side of my picture there is a set of N frame grips with the moon shape cut out. And if you look at the grips on the 29 above, it has that section filled in. Could you tell me the difference in character of these two grips and/or is one better than the other?

THank You

I can only see the thumbnail, but I'll give it a shot

The moon shape cutout is to provide clearance for a speedloader.

The grip without the cutout is likely a bit older than the grip with the cutout.

One is not 'better' than the other necessarily.

Hope this helps.

It wont let you click on the thumbnail to enlarge it?

Is one called something different than the other, or do the just say they are cut out for a speedloader?

Thanks

The 29 is wearing what are called "football" targets because of the relief area is shaped like a football to give clearance for spent shells. About 1981-82 when speedloaders came out, they cut out this relief area into a "Y" or wishbone shape to make way for the speedloaders. Much earlier ones, before the footballs they were non-relieved and would usually get dinged up when ejecting shells. The footballs usually bring a little higher price than the speedloader cutout ones. Not a perfect explaination, but the best I can do.
