I have several S&W revolvers wearing Ahrends grips. They are VERY tight fitting, and take time, patience and care to install. What methods have been used to easily remove grips like this without damaging them ? Thanks for the help .........one eye joe

Back the grip screw out enough to clear the grip bushing and tap the screw head lightly to start the opposite side stock panel off. Once the first stock panel is removed then remove the opposite side by pushing your finger through the frame.

On normally tight fitting grips I loosen the grip screw and angle it slightly until it hits the inside wood on the other grip. A light tap on the screw head usually loosens the opposite grip enough that I can pry it off. Be careful not to crack the grip wood. Go easy. I have removed VERY tight fitting grips by slipping a single edged tazor blade between the grips and the frame. Easy does it because you don't want to cut the wood. Once in place I gently twist the razor blade creating a slight opening; move the blade and twist again until I can insert a thin bladed piece of metal. By working slowly and carefully they can be removed without damaging the wood. Once off I remove enough wood from the grips that they still fit well but can be removed easily.
