I'd love to have a 2.0 like grip on my 9c. Thinking about putting grip tape on it. Any recommendations or experience? Grip tape? Skateboard tape? How long does tape last?

I love bicycle inner tubes on my grips. Turn em inside out, and cut to fit. They actually feel sticky because of the soft rubber they are made of, but they are not. See the right size small tube, and they never move, and are easy to remove.

Seems like it’s an individual thing. Some things work for some, other things for others. I never had much luck with inner tubes or rubber bands. I like the rubberized Talon grips and the Hogue grip sleeves. Never hurts to starts with the least expensive and work your way up.

I use rubberized grip tape from the hardware store.
Only put some on the backstrap and between finger grooves otherwise also on the front trap.
The gep tape lasts years. If peels, then I have a the tape roll available.

I've used grip tape. It comes in "softer" and "harder" (rougher) types. The harder stuff, I have used it, I cut it into small squares and put it on revolver grips. Clean the area with rubbing alcohol first. Remove if it's too rough for you.

It made all the difference on a couple of smooth-front-strap 1911s (a Ruger and a Colt Compact). You can get small packages from Amazon for cheap. Good stuff!

You can make your own, or use something like a Talon or Tractiongrips grip, which is pre cut for an exact fit. I’m a big fan, and have them on all my plastic pistols.

I have rubber Talon Grips and Traction Grips on my pistols. Traction Grips work well on pistols with changeable back straps because they don't wrap all the way around the grip, don't cover the back strap. Both are easy to apply and have been durable.

There's a seller on Ebay called Boodads...I've bought pre-cut grip tape for my Shield 1.0 and tape that i cut myself for my Hyve extensions. Just as good as the Talon but a bit cheaper. He has a wide variety available.

I get mine at the local hardware store. They have both a sandpaper and a rubber style. Unfortunately the rubber is a light grey. I cut to fit and then use a heat gun (hairdrier works too) to help mold it around curves.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll start with inner tube and go from there.

Seems like a rubber inner tube would get slippery if wet. It is the wet and slippery condition that I would be trying to cure with grip tape of some sort.

Bicycle inner tubes are made of very soft rubber, and come in a multitude of sizes. Usually free old ones at your local bike store. Srprisingly, they feel sticky, though they are not. I have never felt any of mine slippery, even on sweaty days. They also make good strong small rubber bands. They stay put, and come off clean and easy.

I use Traction grips rubber or 60 grit. I pu the sand paper on the front strap of my Sigs. Works wonders for cheap.

I use stair tread tape, available at any hardware store worth its salt. You can buy it by the foot, very cheap. Cut it to fit, clean the place where you're going to stick it, peel of the backer, and put it on. Once in place, it stays in place until you are willing to put forth considerable effort to take it off.

I put skateboard tape on my Glocks. I'm right handed and just put the tape on one side. It's abrasive but I cut a small piece off and rub them together to knock the grit down. It gives a positive grip even with sweaty hands.

Several years ago I was at Glock to have the frame changed in my G23. The tech came out with their Rough Texture Grip and asked my opinion. I told him that roughness on the carry side would rough up clothing. They didn't listen.

I USED SKATEBOARD TAPE ON THE FRONT OF MY 1911 FRAME, BETWEEN THE GRIPS. IT WORKED VERY WELL, AND LASTED FOR YEARS.....

I ALSO WRAPPED THE BODY OF MY HIGH INTENSITY, TACTICAL FLASHLIGHT WITH IT, AND ENJOYED SIMILAR RESULTS.....

Goodyear inner tube from Walmart. Was a real pain trying to slip it on. I boiled a pot of water, removed it from the heat and dropped it in for a few minutes. Was still very difficult. I trimmed it before I put it on. And now it ain't comin off!!!
It's been on for a few days and I like it. Good stuff cheap. Thanks for the suggestion.

I use the Talon bulk stuff and just add it where I need more traction.
In my case, this is preferable to covering the entire grip.

I presently have innertubes on my 442 and the grip of a Shockwave 870. Surprisingly, they aren’t sticky as much as provide more squish and smooth rolling action, which I find generally helps with control.

I have tried sandpaper texture and tacky Talon grips. They eventually peel and the sandpaper texture has caused me issues under concealment garments.

On small polymer guns, Kel-Tecs, Kahr and baby Glocks, nothing beats Brooks A Grips. Brownells stocks them and they are the Goldilocks solution. No snagging issues, rock solid when wet and classier than tape.
