I just acquired a Colt SAA. 7&1/2" barrel, blue, .45Colt. It was made in 1957. I am pretty happy with it. The only problem is that it has some after market Mother of Pearl grips on it. I think the grips are about the same age as the gun. I do not like the grips. I want to get another grip for it. I am thinking about a one piece grip. I saw a SAA once that had a one piece checkered wood grip. It was very nice. Does anyone here have any recommendations on who or where to get a quality one piece grip from? Thanks for any suggestions.

What he said! I have owned several of them and some have had custom grips fitted to them. Whoever you choose, have the grips fitted to the frame. The other alternative is to try to find a set of original Colt grips for the particular gun and they will more than likely fit properly.

I have six Colt single actions..All slightly different. You will have to have a custom stock maker to fit them...

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. I am not a member of the Colt Forum. I don't post on forums very much and hate to join one for just one question.
I realize I will have to get a new grip fitted. That is why I was hoping for recommendations of reliable businesses.

Joe Perkins, Classic Single Actions in Tucson AZ. Check our his web site. He probably the best.

Paul Persinger, the best in custom grips in Texas. tel:915-821-7541. No email, no website just word of mouth.....just call him and tell him what you want, but you will need to send your gun. Some of his work.......but not my guns.
