Are there any aftermarket grips available for S&W Model 642 (.38 spl J Frame)?

The OE rubber grip just doesn't have enough surface grip for me and the recoil gets a bit too much after continuous shooting at the range.

Thank you.

There are plenty of aftermarket grips available. I got real nice ones for my L frame from Ahrends grips. google them.

Their are lots of choices for a 642. The S&W website was uncle Mike's combat grips. They cover the back strap making the gun easier to shoot. They are a little bit longer then the boot grips on your gun.

Pacmayr also makes grips that are comfortable to shoot with.Crimson Trace Laser grips also are good but are not cheap.

Check out Craig Spegel J frame boot grips made specifically for the Centennial revolvers.
Spegel also makes them for standard J frames and K,L and N frames.
For me they are the most comfortable and most attractive. They conceal well, too.

These came from Esmeralda. I don't know if they would improve your grip but they do look good!

I have a M 640 in .38spl that came with the wooden bird head grips. I upgraded it with the Uncle Mikes Boot Grips and is OK.

I would like to get the original Spegel Boot Grips where the Uncle Mike design was taken.

What is the adress?

I agree the Uncle mike's Combat Grips available from S&W will be much better than the Boot grips. I also like the grips made by Badger Custom. I have a set of their Rosewood grips on my M640 .357 Magnum and they control the recoil well enough I can shoot full power .357 Magnum rounds without any discomfort.
