Barrel is 3".

I'm wondering if Culina grips can give me the same grip control that my ugly rubber ones do?

Anyone with experience please chime in - and thank you.

I have a 3" 629 and like the Hogue rubber finger grove grips that I put on it.

I have a 3" 629 and it came with 2 sets or rubber grips that were identical except one set had a lanyard ring. OEM with the gun. The grips are great at the range but not good for concealed carry plus ugly. I put Hogue bantam wood grips on it. Looks and carries better now but not as nice to shoot. The rubber ones are for sure more comfortable to shoot.

I absolutely loved shooting my 3" 29 with the Culina grips, the last time it went out. It has about the same shape as a RB combat . And I prefer it over the pachs that it came with.

I have the 629-6 2 5/8" PC with wood round butt combat grips. The small "horn" on the left side of the frame removes skin from the rear knuckle of my thumb every shot with full power 240 grain ammo. Otherwise not a thing wrong! I'm thinking I will use a Jeweler's file and round that sharp edge off and all may be well.

The Cullina above is already rounded.

Doc, I think you'd like the Culina combats on your 3"er. You're still gonna feel that sting shooting magnum loads but John's grips fit my hands better than the stock factory combats. If I take mine to the range it's with 44 specials. I'm not twenty anymore. I have a set on my 29-3 like Lou's and a set on a 629-6.

All I am able to add on the wood grips that came on my 629-6 Deluxe 3" is I like shooting with them. Everyone has their own opinion. Rubber is easier on recoil, but this is not a high volume target revolver for me.

Nothing personal. You are one of the rare shooters that hasn't been mangled by the Altamont fish scale grips. It seems to me that the grips they're making are all for looks and no go. After just a few rounds of factory spec 44 mag ammo I had a hunk of thumb bark knocked off that took a month to grow back. If they work for you, by all means go with it.
