Evening all,

I have a long-term project gun I'd like to put together. I'm still hunting parts, but area where I haven't been able to find much relevant information is regarding grips.

I like the look of the older grip panels for the 44 Double Action. I've also found that reproductions are available. My question - for any and all who might own both - is whether or not the stocks for a 44 DA will fit a round-butt K-frame, and if not how far off they might be.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Yes, but the stock pin position is off a little. You will need to fill the existing hole with Acra-Glas, Plastic Steel or similar products and re-drill the stock pin hole in the stocks. They are off about 1/2 the diameter of the hole.

The neat thing is you can use them on a Model 12 or steel frame K's too since there is no horn on them.

Much appreciated. The first parts are on order. I'm keeping my fingers crossed since - eventually - this is probably going to require a call to the ATF.

c'mon. don't tease! i gotta know now. i hate suprises. what is it?

One of these days I mean to build the gun referenced here.

A Minor Art Project

That ATF call regards moving the serial number from the grip frame to the backstrap for the purpose of installing a lanyard ring. I've heard that it's both legal (with proper paperwork) and illegal (regardless of paperwork) and pretty much decided that the only way to know for sure is to call the feds and ask.

And get it in writing. Preferably with multiple signatures.

lanyard rings sre overlooked. this reminds me that i need one. thanks! btw nice gun.
