Which grip manufacturer to get a custom set of wood grips for a Model 19 would you recommend? Any pics?

I have had excellent service from Culina LLC:

Here is a pic of the only set of Culina grips I have mounted.

I have 3 other pair of K Frame ones and 2 J Frame ones.

Their work is excellent!!

Also shown is a set of Spegel grips. Great for carry and nice looking. Long wait to order a set but worth it.

And last pics are Elk grips from the local Forum legend BGMTNMAN if you are looking for something classic.

If you want something that won't break the bank, but fit the hand well { mine} consider Herrett RKR. Shown on my 66-2. Bob

You asked for a custom stock maker. All the responses so far have been for semi custom/factory stocks.

On this forum, 44magget is one who will carve stocks for you. There are others.

I've had mostly Hogues on single actions and my S&W revolvers.
They ship usually the same day and the San Diego area isn't far.

I tend to reshape the Hogues I get so they feel right, at least in the bigger frame sizes. They tend to be quite long because of the clip and screw at the bottom of the frame.

I didn't like how large the bottom finger lump was on these Cocobolos so I trimmed it down.

Now I prefer the non finger groove ones like these Goncalo Alves ones on my M63-3.

I had my eye on Ahrends grips but didn't want to wait several months.
Now that I have some grips to get me by, I'm placing an order for some Ahrends.
All of his grips are $80, with the option of a hand rubbed tung oil finish for $20 more.

I looked at Culinas website, nice but I looked and looked for prices but couldn't find any, he must be very proud of them.

I guess it depends on your definition of "custom".
I sure wouldn't call Culnas semi-custom or Factory.
Herretts will make them to fit a tracing of YOUR hand. That seems pretty custom to me! Certainly not mass produced factory goods.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but Kim Ahrends is out of business. I just looked at his website to make sure the bank didn't open it back up.

Site note indicated Feb 2020 was last time he was taking orders.

If he was still around he would be a good pick.
Combination of good looks and great fit to the hand.

Thanks 326mod10. I had just looked at the website before posting, but must have failed to see where Kim wasn't taking orders anymore.
I'm not sure why the website is still up if he is no longer in business.

Because Bill Jordan was instrumental in creation of the Model 19,
I decided to stock my Model 19 with Herrett's Jordan Trooper stocks.

I sent them a drawing of my hand and they made the stocks to
fit my hand.

I have not dealt with 44 maggert, but have seen his work, and it is fantastic. I have Culina's and they are great. I believe they can offer checkering too. I have several sets. Craig Spegel makes some beautiful stuff. I love his checkering. I have Spegels on a M19, and on a Browning HP.

I think my next set will be Herrett Jordan Troopers in figured walnut. I like them.

I have one set of combat Ahrends too, and they are nice.

Actually, Curt's handle here on the site is 44magget, no "r". But , you are right, his work is fantastic. I have about 8 pairs of his grips. He is a wonderful person and a delight to deal with. Unfortunately, he is having surgery done for carpal tunnel. So, it will be several months before he is ready to make some grips again. I also talked to Ken, bigmtnman, and he is taking a break also. He says the cold and his joints aren't playing well together. If it was me, I would wait until they're back at it. They are that good. Now, if you can't wait I would suggest Culina for wood, and Pat Grashorn for stags. I have never dealt with them but I have never seen anything but top quality work by them either. Here's some of Curt and Ken's work.

I like Hogue fancy wood, smooth. They fit my big hand well. Here is a pic of a 629 with a set of Hogue's I got off a forum member a while back. I also included a pic of the same gun with a set of Ahrend oil finish grips. Nice grips, but probably a better fit for someone with a normal sized hand. You see them for sale used.
