Groups at 100 yards

A year ago I shot these groups from fifty feet off a rest. The PC did not perform in any better fashion than my MOE version.
I did try a variety of ammo that's not used on the target shown with varying results and surprisingly CCI Blazer grouped very well. http://smith-wessonforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=43792&d=1304179145
To think that the 15-22s can be match grade isn't an accurate assessment of what they are designed to do.
They're a fun gun to have and I've had nothing but good things at the range.
BTW, I sold the PC and bought a Sport and couldn't be happier.:)

The Aguila was a complete surprise to me. Always thought it was junk ammo and before the crunch I remember it being very inexpensive. Not the case now, I had to pay $10 for 50 to do this test and they did have some subsonics there at the shop. Might just bite the bullet and try them too.
Something else I noticed about the Aguila, thats a stinky smelling and smokey round.

Manufactured in a country known mostly for Tequila, Corona, and water you shouldn't drink without boiling.... Why am I not surprised that the powder charge stinks, smokes, and burns the eyes? :D

imo, it would be difficult to accurately see the differences between models at 50ft. (16.6yds) They both should be relatively accurate at that distance. Did you happen to try the same at 50yrds?

Yes, you should be able to maintain MOA at increasing distance. Ammo may have an effect on MOA capability, but without good solid technique the best match ammo in the world wouldn't help. Appleseed teaches to 4 MOA standard using a rack grade rifle and surplus ammo. The regular Appleseed's are at 25m using reduced sized targets to simulate 100-400 yards. There are long range (known distance or KD) Appleseed's that you shoot actually shoot at 100-400+ yards. Those require a centerfire rifle, but at a regular Appleseed .22 is the way to go.

Member Bobermo, thats really impressive especially considering your using the iron sights.
I gotta tell you tho,
dont bother dropping money into a nice scope and its mounts just to prove that that the 15-22 isnt a target gun.
But If your wanting some fun, do it and then experiment with different 22lr heads.

This was with a Vortec Sparc red dot (no magnification) today at 50 yds, and is what I would consider typical for iron sights or an unmagnified RD sight. The flyers are where I first started shooting as I dialed it in. At 100 yds, you wouldn't even see the paper plate. If someone calims they can get a nickle-sized 3 shot group with AR-type sights at 100 yds regardless of the ammo, you should be a military sniper or a car salesman.

Now with my Marlin Model 60 I can eat the center out of a target at 50-100 yds with the 3-9x32, but it is superior in accuracy by far with or without a scope.
