So I find this really nice (to my way of thinkin') older 629-1, 3T's, with Rosewood, smooth target trigger, a bit of use. Paid quite a bit for the six incher, sold my four inch round butt to get it.
So I get the thing home, feels a bit gritty, pull the side plate, and the trigger pivot stud is busted off! Snagglerazlefrazzitz!!!!!!!! Going back to the shop where I bought it today for a refund, or maybe a fist fight. We'll see what happens. Either way, S&W says it's a trip to the Custom Shop to fix it.
Think I'll go for the refund and keep shopping, and dump the problem back in the shops lap. Or not.
Never dealt with the factory repair. What kind of ballpark am I looking at for turnaround on this sort of thing? Cost? Anyone?

WOW how are these studs getting broke in the first place? I have worn out the innards in several S&Ws but never the studs

New one on me! Broken off right at the surface of the frame. The only way it was functioning is that the trigger was anchored in the sideplate! As soon as the sideplate came off, the trigger shifted, and then it was Katey, bar the door! No way it's going back together, at least not with any springs in it, and then, only if I hold my tongue just right. Afraid that it's going to the Custom Shop in a bag.

I'd return it and let it be their problem. No telling what other issues it may have.
