Guess what I had for breakfast this morning?

I bought a box of JD sausage on a stick wrapped in pancakes this week for when I want a quick b'fast. They call something similar to this "pigs in blankets" at the local IHOP. They weren't bad at all, especially rolled around in Aunt Jemima's maple syrup. When I cook a real b'fast it's fresh eggs from the henhouse, venison and pork sausage, Wright's thick bacon, home made cathead biscuits, and sliced fresh tomatoes when I have them.

A Loves truck stop with a Carls Jr. Is a mile down the road. Theresa was still asleep so I thought I would be a hero and cook for her. Went and picked up a couple of loaded omelet biscuits.

Man those are good, but holy cow, don't look at the nutritional info on those.

Boy, I don't think JDs sausage biscuits are worth a darn.If you didn't read the package you wouldn't know what you're eating by taste.Years ago his sausage was pretty good[the one that sold in a roll like hamburger] but today, it reminds me of floor sweepings after the butchering. I do have a liking for Tennessee Pride, especially when I mix a pound of mild with a pound of hot. Now,thems some rightous vittles.SS2 I love any kind of bean but, with the hock I'm particularly fond of "red beans", pintos in my boyhood history. Whoeee, I just had a flashback of "Grandpa Jones" doin' the menu on Hee Haw, laruppin' good! Nick

JD stuff went down hill when he (Big Bad http://youtu.be/KnnHprUGKF0
John) sold the company to whomever owns it now. I recently had a package of it that I cut into several two-patty servings--cooked them, had no bones in it BUT, its not near as tasty it once was. Jimmy Dean passed away some years ago.

Tennessee Pride is good. I just made some sausage gravy with Whitney's original. I was highly impressed. Great flavor with spiciness but not too much.

I dont know if we have that brand here, but will look for it to try.

Three fried eggs, three link sausages and three slices of bacon.
It's what I call the un-holy trinity. Also an English muffin with butter and strawberry jam along with a large glass of lactose free milk.
I ate at 9:00am and was good til 2:00pm when I had a bottle of Slimfast.

Was the Slimfast taken to counter the Eggs and deeeeelicious meat combo? :D Slimfast aint bad, ive had it from time to time.

Clifty Farms makes GREAT HAMS - Only twenty five miles away. Local groceries stock their products, so I have never been to their plant.

My BIL used to be the music minister at 1st Methodist in Paris, TN. We were visiting one time when they had a pot luck dinner at the church and the Murphey family brought some of their ham. I've been addicted to Clifty Farms ham ever since. I like to buy the whole ham, have some sliced into dinner steak thickness, some thin for breakfast and, as mentioned before, the hock for beans.

One of the few enjoyable things about living in suburban Philly is the availability of pork products. We have locally made Hatfield brand scrapple, Taylor's pork roll, bacon, sausage, etc. We have a great German Meat shop called Rykers in the Fox Chase section of Philly. Ilg's Pork products is just up the road a piece. If I want to take a 30 minute ride, I can go to Moyer Brothers and get some of the best pork products you will ever taste. If I am really ambitious, I can drive 45 minutes or so and I am in Amish country.

Hey I grew up in an Italian family. My mom made awesome home made pizza. Not the pizza we buy today. The home made dough was awesome.
My mom had four sons to feed. Including me and plus my dad. She cooked like we were an army to feed.

My point is she would put the left over pizza in the cooled off oven. We had it for breakfast the next morning. Yup growing up Italias means we ate cold pizza too for breakfast the breakfast of champions. I would take cold pizza and eat it at work.

Now fast forward 30 years. My co worker when I ate cold pizza for breakfast is now my son's boss. I told my son to tell his boss I worked with him 30 years ago. He told my son I was the one who ate cold pizza in the morning at 7 am.

Pizza is the wheat/flour group, the tomato is the vege group and the cheese is the dairy group. It's a well balanced breakfast. Right?

Had pancakes from a double recipe of Bisquick pancakes I'd made up and put in the freezer. I add a good dose of cinnamon and this time a pakage of blueberies. Made Twining's Lady Grey tea in my one quart mug. I slept late, about 11 AM, so I was good until supper.

Aw to heck with eatin' all that healthy stuff for breakfast, I just had a bowl of fudge ripple ice cream after dinner and boy was it good!
