Guess who is now an open carry....

I'm glad they are getting looser on their restrictions. I used to have to literally drive around SC because they didnt reciprocate. Correct me if I'm wrong, but now they are reciprocal with other states on CC permits right?

P.S. I feel like OC can make you an easy target if you are somewhere that something might go wrong. If someone is planning something, who's the first ones they take out? The ones that are clearly a threat. Just my opinion of course.

According to the website USA Carry, SC allows reciprocal carry with the permit holders resident in the states shaded yellow.

And the states shaded blue allow reciprocal carry with resident SC permit holders.

It's not much of a deal if open carry is only allowed if you have a concealed carry permit....what's the point....at least in backwards Louisiana open carry has always been legal and you don't need no concealed carry permit to do so. Makes me glad to live here.\
Now if that new law allows open carry without the need for a permit , that's something of a great thing....a real freedom.

Let's get going on Constitutional Carry. Now permitted in 14 states including Idaho, my state. Anything else is an infringement on our 2nd amendment rights to keep and bare arms. The feds nor the states have the right to interpret the constitution for us by requiring any type of permit to carry a fire arm open or concealed. Look it up. That's Constitutional Carry.

Who?

No, the bill did not pass today, which is why you haven't seen an effective date.

That chicken's only a third of the way hatched so far.

And quoting from an article in The State, "After a perfunctory House final vote on Thursday, the bill will head for the Senate, where it is expected to fail, so it won't become law."

This isn't the first time I've heard people say that they haven't seen a whole lot of people open carrying in Texas since it became legal again. It's kinda strange. It only took Texas about 125 years to get open carry back. I remember all the ballyhoo and protests and marches advocating open carry. And now hardly anyone open carries. Go figure.

Texas has that backhanded open carry. You can only open carry IF you have a concealed carry permit....well if you have a concealed carry permit, you don't need to open carry....I think that's why you aren't seeing a lot of open carry ....the law has a big string attached to it....sorta makes it useless.
Polititans know how to fool you...they'll do it every time....vote them out next election.

This is great news. After moving across the border a few years ago, open carry was about the only thing I really missed while living in NC.

Not sure what you're saying. Which border? And you shouldn't have missed open carrying while living in North Carolina...we've had open carry in NC since forever almost.

And there's really nothing "great" about this news, because open carry has not passed in SC. Don't know why folks keep thinking it has.

I should have mentioned this with my original post as some seem confused about what is going on here. H3930 is NOT open carry but constitutional carry, as in concealing a weapon without a permit. And again, it has passed the House and is now in the Senate. It is predicted that the Senators will let it die in committee. As I said, a cowards way out. Come reelection they get to say how they would have voted for it, but it just never came up for a vote.

Just wanted to add, know who your State rep's are? If not you should. I have contacted mine many times over this bill. My state house rep voted yes and my state senator said he will vote yes if it makes it to the floor. Email, powerful tool!

I was born and raised in NC. Was working and living in Charlotte for 10 years and moved to upstate SC a few years ago. When I lived in NC I never open carried in public but would on my property and sometimes while in a vehicle if going on long trips. When I moved to SC and got my CWP here I was told that you couldn't even open carry a handgun on your property. So I put most of my OWB holsters in a box. This was also a real letdown for me as I have a few single action revolvers that I like to carry in traditional "quick-draw" holsters. If it passes it would be nice to start using some of those holsters again.

I guess I won't be as worried about printing anymore. :)
I would never worry about printing anyway. There are so many things people carry on their belts nowadays such as cell phones, Leatherman tools, flashlights, etcetera, hat there's no way anyone would be able to tell for sure that I am indeed carrying a gun, including the po-po.

Believe it or not, you can open carry in Connecticut, as long as you have a permit.

The permit is a carry permit, open carry or concealed carry.

There was some proposed legislation to restrict open carry, but it did not make it out of committee.

The whole open carry issue came to light about 10 years ago in Connecticut, literally right around the corner from where I work:
